Momentary freeze/hang when clicking the pencil icon in Manage Materials window

I'm on MacOS -- haven't tried in Windows yet -- and when I click the pencil icon beside a material in the Manage Materials window, the computer slows to a crawl -- intermittent beachball and intermittent mouse movement -- until the drawer appears. It appears to be doing something that it doesn't need to do, since it's just supposed to be opening the info for that particular material. The same thing happens when clicking Advanced in the Physical Material window (computer slows to a crawl until the Material Editor window appears). Also has the same problem when clicking OK after making any change in the Material Editor window. It seems to have a hard time dealing with the materials database (which I have not modified at all).

How long do these events last?

Can you make a video using Autodesk Screencast so we can get an idea of what's going on?

Is this a large design with dozens of materials in use? Or does it happen in an empty new design?

Any other relevant things you can share about this experience would be helpful.

I expect the problem is independent of how materials are used in the design, but I haven't tried it. The screencast shows a completely new design. The screencast didn't capture the beachball but hopefully you get the idea.

While I agree that Fusion shouldn't lock up on what appear to be simple operations, the hangs in your video are somewhat small in magnitude compared to real computational hangs. It's safe to assume that something else is going on here.

It would be helpful to know when this is "worse".
What happens when your machine is freshly rebooted, is it less?
What about when you open an old model with lots of appearances applied? Is it more?
You mentioned it being worse on first invoke than subsequent invokes of the same commands. Do you find that is always true?

That kind of thing. If we could narrow down when it gets worse/better that would help. In the meantime I'll share this with the performance and materials teams to see what they think.
