Dragging a named view to the render gallery doesn't work

I'm dragging a named view onto the Render Gallery and nothing happens. Am I missing something? See the screencast at https://youtu.be/YS0eCzLUw_c

Hi,

What happens when you click Save on the design?

I'm finding that all named views are rendered after the design is saved with the new view in it, regardless of drag and drop. Does that happen for you?

Yes, if I add a Named View and explicitlty save the design then it automatically shows up in the render gallery when I go to the Render workspace. Does this mean that the instructions that appear in the render gallery are wrong?

Hi @robduarte,

You can't directly drag a Named View into the "Render on Save" area. Once you save a file, the new view is saved in the render gallery. You can then drag that view to the "Render on Save" area. The next time that you make changes and save the file, the view gets automatically rendered. Here is a video that illustrates this functionality.

It makes total sense when it's demonstrated.

I have to say that it's not clear that the left portion of the render gallery is a discrete pane with its own purpose - until after you move something into it.

The text "Drag and drop views here..." is confusing because the only thing that's explicitly labeled a "view" in Fusion 360 are Named Views. I'm not sure how a user would know that the thumbnails in the render gallery are what are being referred to as "views". Maybe it should say "Drag and drop thumbnails..." ?

You are right, it's confusing. The term "view" is misleading. We discussed this internally and are considering changing it to "drag and drop thumbnails...."

Has there been any progress in 're-naming' the instructions or what you call a 'view' when rendering? The way I see it, the 'views' in rendering store a lot more information than just the view and should be called a 'rendering'.

When I first the render gallery and the small window that says Render on Save stating:

"Drag and drop views here to enable rendering on save for future versions" I had no idea that this was separate from the 'named views' in the browser bar. So I created named views and then tried to drag and drop them to that location.

Had I not found this post I would still not understand from the interface and the instructions provided.
