Which function should I use to fix this part to my vice?

When I select rigid and then try to select my part, both my part and the entire vie gets highlighted, so I'm having a hard time making selections.

The part must be a component, then use a joint to position it in the vise.

The part is also derived, so the vise should be inserted into the part file, not the part into the vise file. (Joints can't be created to derived parts, so Insert instead of Derive.)

Creating toolpaths in the vise file isn't a good workflow.

p.s. Don't use Move or Align to position bodies. Use joints and components.

I would have to disagree that inserting parts into a workholding template is a bad workflow, in fact it's my primary workflow when using My lang vices.

You can still Insert derive as long as its into an empty component for the part you can then joint that component to the vice.

I do insert workholding into part files sometimes, normally when I am working with the collet chuck or 3 jaw.

Its for the situations where a template doesn't always make sense.
