Sorry this is my first time on this forum. I brought in a stp file model I need to machine, but it is tilted in two directions. I need to move the 3D tilted plane on the model to an XY flat plane so

I can clamp it down and machine it. In WorkNC CAD I just do a 3 point Aline.

Have you tried to use the Align tool to align the bottom face of the object to the XY plane?

Okay I went to modify then picked aline, then picked the bottom of my tilted model, then picked the xy plane on the xyz cordinate and nothing seemed to happen.

The easies way to get the help you need is to share your design by exporting it as a .f3d file and attach it to your next post.

The next step should be a screencast (the tool is a free download from Autodesk and integrates nicely with Fusion 360).

This takes a little more time on your side, a lot less on ours and the net effect would be that you'd likely be already machining your part 😉

Ok thanks I will try to figure out how to do that. I have been using WorkNc for 19 years and the

company went out of business so I lost my Cad system. So this is all new.

You do not need to move the part you can make your setup fit the orientation you have in the CAM workspace.

Just use Select Z axis and select a face you want the Z to point away from.

Then work through the other parameters like the X direction and pick an origin point.

Here's the help tutorials for CAM,

To export the part pick Export from the file menu and save as an f3d, might be better to start a thread in the CAM forum if you need more help.

Scroll down a bit and you can add attachments, only works if you're on the forum you can't attach using email replies.

Thanks, I still need to be able to orient data to a position for engineering changes. I think I have it now, I just have to invert my y and Z axis. How do you do that?

I did this screencast for someone the other day, the only difference is you need to use select bodies on the move dialog.

Edit Note you don't have to pick the origin as the pivot point you can snap to any of the points on your part.
