This type of problem will not be fixed anytime in the near future.

For one thing your asking T-Splines to have a worse case then a star point and I wont get into it here because it would be a very lengthy complex discussion, but that is a very complex problem to solve mathematically while keeping continuity across surfaces.

To you it just looks like some simple pipe forms blending together but in reality this is one of the worst case scenarios.

To be honest we are lucky this even works at all.

One thing I can tell you for sure is if you felt that was a troublesome solution you might as well stop using T-Splines now because that stuff happens all the time and much worse.

I'm trying to make a simple bike frame using the pipe feature under the sculpt environment. You can see in the video it doesn't smoothly mate for some reason. Where the pipe meets the junction, it isn't symmetric on both sides. There is some sort of kink in the pipe...Thoughts are appreciated.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJA7vsfN8b8

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for posting your question in the Forum. The design looks really good.

I think a great resource how to work with T-Splines is the Fusion 360 help with the link here.

You will like this video here which gives an introduction what is best practice to use the pipe feature.

Two options would be:

1. Perhaps you could use Splines in the sketch to create smooth transition zones between the pipes?

2. You can also use the "Make uniform" feature and move the edges and points step-by-step

I hope this information helps

Thanks,

Thanks for the help! I'll need to try making the sketch smooth, however unfortunately the make uniform command didn't seem to make much of a difference...

@akcanebruakcan

The reason it doesn't have a smooth transition is because of the amount of sketch lines you have converging in one spot and given the fact that they are not planar. you need to delete the faces at the offending spot and use the bridge tool to make a manual connection. Also I would like to point out that converting these types of connections to solids or surfaces can be very problematic if not done correctly. When you are using the pipe tool in this manor there will always be cleanup that needs to be done.

As @Mike.Grau stated post your model if you want help with it.

Ok what I should have said was it has to do with the angles or not being planar.

I have fixed it and made a video and as soon as it's available I will post it.
