I created a screencast for you on how to do it, but it doesn't seem to be uploading or processing. That seems to be broken for me after the last update (even after updating screencast app too).

So in case it doesn't upload, here are the steps:

1) create a sketch on a plane

2) in the sketch, create the profile (cross section) of the tire. Make sure it is a closed profile, i.e., the no open sides, and can be highlighted as such.

3) close the sketch, under "create" menu, choose "revolve"

4) after closing the profile from the sketch, select the "axis" button and then the 3 axis/planes will show up. Select the one perpendicular to your profile, and then you can select

the options, but you'll just want the default of 360.

5) then your tire will be created.

OK, I figured out my screen cast problem. Apparently if you pause an upload, it log jams all later uploads too!

Here is the screen cast:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/community/screencast/20fc4a8d-668b-40ed-8541-a9d83be1d899

ya, saw that but i's about adding the texture/tread to the tire.. not actually creating the tire in the fist place.

@TrippyLighting wrote:

This thread is the first thing that comes up when looking for tire using the Forum search function :

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/design-validate-document/draw-tire-tread-on-round-surface/m-p/6353818#M58453

that's cool.. kinda the idea I had originally.. clears up a bit for me.. but getting specific dimensions in to parts I'm finding rather difficult, and it looks easy in all the demo's but after I draw it's not letting me change/input stuff. 😕

REALLY like the screen recorder!!! is that a F-360 thing or some outside app you are using?

It's part of F360. It's a separate app, but you have a button in F360.

For dimensions, you can use "sketch dimension" to constrain lines, diameters, etc. Pay attention to the other sketch constraints that can be subtle and frustrating when you

aren't aware of them.

Then use "modify parameters" to make the values "variables" and then you can use the variables in the sketch dimensions.

Ie, add a parameter named "TireRadius", then create a construction line the dimension it as "TireRadius", then create your cross section at the end of that line.

Later, if you a bigger tire, just change that TireRadius value.

@t_lamourine

Here's another screencast showing you how to parameterize. I screwed up on some of the naming and it didn't quite "react" as I expected, but you can get the general idea from this.

Note that I had to restart F360 after my first try because it had lost the ability to mirror in a sketch (this happens to me occasionally, and on other features, so keep in mind it might not be you when it won't work correctly). yeah, welcome to the world of F360... it ain't perfect, but it is **** good.....

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/community/screencast/dedf6b18-55f9-4206-ab2f-f49cad00c82a
