construction line visibility

At least on a Mac with a retina screen, construction lines are very hard to see. (I'm assuming it's only on a Mac, as I can't find other posts about it.)

Actually, line weight generally is pretty dicey, but it's especially bad with construction lines because of the color choices in the interface.

a) Short-term, call this one a bug and please fix the color or weight of the construction lines - they're almost unusable.

b) Longer term, expose an interface for changing line colors and possibly line weight. Older eyes, tired eyes, and colorblind eyes will thank you.

Kindly pass this on to your accessibility czar for advocacy. I suspect you have one... ask Joe Lachoff, Scott Morlan, Michael Albers, etc...

(And for extra credit, try running Fusion on a Mac in the evening when Flux kicks in to adjust the display color temperature. Take that, color palette. 🙂

+1, it's very difficult for my self, including the text being a large part of gray and appearing faint, I put a suggestion in the idea's and was surprised it got so little support.

yeah, I think the entire development team has 20/20 possibly corrected 20/20 but still 20/20

Heh. I have 20/20, and great color vision, but it's still almost impossible to see construction lines on a retina display. What I find particularly amusing is that the computer shown in the header image for these posts is a retina mac.

Thanks for the suggestion, TrippyLighting! I was very hopeful when I went to try it, but on my screen, it doesn't help. 😞

Here's a series of screen captures of each of the five environment variations. (Left-to-right: Dark Sky, Grey Room, Photo Booth, Tranquility Blue, Infinity Pool)

Unfortunately, I have to play find-the-construction-line in all of them. (Hint: it runs through the centers of the circles.)

I've inserted this image unscaled, at full screen resolution, and it appears to be the same as the Fusion interface on my screen. It would be a wonderful irony if people with non-retina-mac screens found the lines to be perfectly legible. 🙂

I just wanted to add a couple of tips that may help "unclutter" the screen a bit.

1. You can right click on a Sketch in the Browser, and select Hide Profile

2. In the Sketch Palette, you can quickly disable/enable the sketch grid display

I hope that helps in the mean time...

Hi Nathan! Thanks for the suggestions. If I could see construction lines with the clarity I see in your screen shots, I would be happy. The issue is the line weight on retina displays. Hiding the grid or profiles doesn't make the construction lines easier to see. Here's a screen capture from the sketch I'm working on right now. can you find the construction lines?

I can see the reference lines, but do agree that they are difficult to see. I thought by hiding the profiles and the grid the contrast of the reference lines against the background might help some. In your screenshot below, both the grid and the profiles are enabled.

One other suggestion you can try is to enable the Open in Low Resolution option.

@innovatenate. Low res mode does make the lines more visible, thanks. The rest of the interface becomes harder to read, but it's a step.

Its 2025 and the inability to adjust colors of construction axis lines is absurd.

Using Construction axis for guidance and context is nearly impossible.

Lowering resolution? Terrible suggestion. Why buy a modern system to only have to dumb down the software so you can see.

Change the model color for contrast? So much for the value of model colors to show distinctions.

At $400 a seat, you think you could hire someone to fix this.
