Dimension to midpoint on a line

I thought I'd been able to make dimensions to midpoints on lines before, but it doesn't seem to always work. In this case, I have a couple points that I want to center vertically within a rectangle. So I tried to dimension the Y of one of the points against the midpoint of the nearby vertical line, but it never highlights the midpoint as a possible end for the dimension.

Here's the file: http://a360.co/29Vp1t6

It's the second sketch, "Bottom Plate Slot and Holes."

Thanks!

Hi @JetForMe

Let me make I understand your issue.

You want to add the dimension as choose the midpoint.

I think that function is not supporting even in the Inventor…..so if you want to choose the midpoint when you add a dimension, you are able to add the “point” at the midpoint of line.

Is there something which I missed?

I'm looking forward to your reply.

Thanks!

Hi @JetForMe,

Thanks for sharing the file, that's very helpful. However, I'm not sure I completely understand what you are trying to achieve here. Which points in the sketch are you trying to align vertically?

If all you want to do is align a point with the midpoint of another line, I would not use Dimension, I'd go for the Horizontal/Vertical constraint. Just use that constraint, and either select the points you want to align, if the midpoint already exists, or you can snap to the midpoint from within the horizontal/vertical command itself. I show both of these in this short video:

Just to answer the specific question you first asked, you cannot directly dimension to a midpoint in Fusion. As @ahreum.ryu says, Fusion requires you to first place a midpoint using the Point command

Hope this helps you make progress on your design.

I was not correct in my statements above. Thanks @ShirleyShi! Fusion, can, indeed, support dimensions to midpoints. If you hold down SHIFT while creating a dimension, you can select line/curve midpoints. Here is a screencast:

Hi @Anonymous,

I'm sorry I don't get what you want. could you draw in your picture? what line do you want to add?

Does the splines have the centre point?

" some lines between two spines having a reference centre point"

And it will appreciate if you can share your model (my email address is ahreum.ryu@autodesk.com)

I look forward to you reply.
