Hi All,

I'm having trouble with the height of text that I sketch onto a body in Fusion. The height selected in the dialog box becomes the height of the box, not the actual text. On the CNC zone forum it was suggested that I had a bug and should post here to ask about it.

Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Terry

Hi mfchief,

Thanks for reporting this problem. Currently the height of the text is defined as the height of the text box, not the text itself. Since different font type will have different height, we use a text box to define the height.

I think you need to get the actual height of the text. So you can try following steps:

a. If you just need to know the height of the text and do not want to modify the value of the height, you can first click to select the text and then RMB on the text and select "Explode Text". Then the text will be transformed into plain Fusion sketch curves. Then you can use the Inspect tool to measure the height of the text by measuring the distance between two curves. For example, for "T" and "E", you can measure the distance between the upper horizontal line and bottom horizontal line.

b. If you want to control the height of the text, you can go on select all the text curves, and then unfix them. But we currently have a bug which are still under investigation that some parts of the text may not be successfully unfixed. And if all the text curves are unfixed, you can use modify->scale command to scale your text to some desired height. Please be noted that adding dimension to control the text curves are not recommended because the text curves are mostly spline related curves. The dimension solving behavior are not good on spline curves.

Hope my idea helps.

Thanks,

Frank

Frank, thank you very much for your prompt and detailed reply, it will help
me a great deal.

Since I first asked about this issue on the CNC Zone, would it be OK to post
your reply there as well?

Regards

Terry
