one other method you can try is starting a new, empty Fusion design then from the data panel right click and insert your translated sketch model. Once it has been inserted (may take a short time to load the model in the modeling window) you are put into a move mode and at this time you can move/rotate your entire assembly as a single unit.
hope this helps.

Rotating Assemblies?

I do woodworking and some 3D printing, and I'm getting tired of having to use two different programs: Sketchup and Cubify. Fusion 360 seems to be good for both aspects of my hobbies, so I'm trying to learn the new system.

I'm currently designing some shop cabinets and want to import a couple of Sketchup models I have of tools so that I can have a good idea of where everything sits on the cabinets as I design them. However, when I import the Sketchup file, the axes are different and the imported model ends up rotated in an undesirable direction. Is there any way to rotate a group of components? Everything I'm trying is failing, and three hours of searching has come up empty for me.

Hey!

So if I understand correctly you are attempting to select all of the individual components and rotate all of them in unison, like pivot all of the components 15° or 20° off "said point."

If so, you can make all of the components visible and Drag Select them all from the top left corner to the bottom right (all selected blue). Then press "S" on the keyboard and enter either "M" or "Move", select it. In the new window that opens, you will see an option titled "Set Pivot" that you select until the green "Check" appears. Then just select the pivot point (you can also before selecting click the "light bulb" of a component and select a pivot point within a component). Once you select the point, click the "Check" next to the degree entry flied, and then enter your value or edit it manually.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply! Looks like my problem was not doing everything in the "Sculpt" menu, which makes sense now since a mesh is being imported instead of a solid model.

Now the next problem: the model is really complex and I can't seem to select all of the faces. Back to fiddling.

Sounds like it is the coordinate system,

try right click on the Navigate cube, in the menu you can reset home, top and front,

Fusion takes a little while, looks like hanging, but will be ok.

I was able to select all of the individual mesh components by selectively turning them on and off with the "Lightbulb". It looks like there's some mesh-local coordinate stuff left over from Sketchup because when I try to rotate, about half of the parts rotate off in different planes and directions; otherwise yannick.hasenbalg's solution likely would have worked.

Thanks guys! I'll keep fiddling and see if I can come up with a different solution.

Np and nice! at least it is some progress.

Not sure if this will help since it may be time consuming with many parts but you should be able to select the individual parts rotating off in different directions and rotate them individually.

See if you can maybe select the plane for those parts and delete it.
