Hi dirkgoversXMH6X,

Sorry to hear that you are unable to use some symbols from the palette. We recently discovered a similar problem (internal tracking id FDWG-5567) with some Windows machines and we are investigating the cause. We think it may have something to do with running a non-English OS (eg: Chinese locale) or having a double byte Windows user name. Could you share if you might be on a similar system?

Are the symbols highlighted below the ones with the problem?

For the diameter symbol, you could enter %%c in the dialog (similarly, %%p for plus-minus and %%d for degrees). For other symbols, if you are able to find the Unicode character, copy-pasting into the dialog should work. Or simply entering the Unicode code point will work too:

I've attached a list of the character codes for some symbols, for reference. We hope you can make use of this workaround until the problem is fixed.

Lastly, the enhancement for Feature Control Frames to be attached to and aligned with the dimensions is on our roadmap but at the moment, we are not sure when the feature will be available.

Thanks,

Need some help.

I want to place a geometric tolerance on my drawing, but several symbols in the 'Feature control frame' dialog box don't work.

I want, for instance to place a diameter symbol in my GDT annotation, but it doesn't work. No diameter symbol will appear.

Can anyone help? I now 'bypassed' the problem by typing 'dia'.

Also, being able to align the GDT box vertically, parallel to the dimension is better, since this is the normalized way.

Hi Krithika,

Thanks for the (really) fast reply!

My system is indeed a non-english system (Dutch language with location Belgium). I don't know what you mean by a double byte Windows user name.

I'm running Windows 10 Home on a HP Envy laptop. Just ask me if you would like more info on my system.

It are indeed the highlighted symbols that don't work. Also the ≠ symbol doesn't work either.

I've used your workarounds, they will do for now.

Thanks,

Dirk

Hi Dirk,

It's good to know that you are able to make use of the workarounds for now.

Thanks for the details on your system. Could you check whether the font 'Arial Unicode MS Regular' (filename ARIALUNI.TTF) is available on your machine?

Thanks,

Hi Dirk,

Thanks for checking. It seems that these symbols currently need Arial Unicode MS to work correctly. We will keep you posted on when a fix will be available.
