I am actually shocked to find that either the website of these brands does not exist or if it does, they don't provide CAD models. This is really quite a mystery. Anyway, with wood we don't need a threaded hole. We just made a "pilot hole" with drill that is similar to the screw shank diameter and then put the screw in.

The number of options that can be chosen for simple humble wood screws is mind boggling and mind breaking on this McMaster-Carr. Nothing of the type exists in the UK I can say with 100% certainity. The bigwigs like B&Q, ScrewFix, Travis Perkins and the rest don't have something as comprehensive and powerful as this McMaster-Carr. That is why I just ended up buying most things from eBay here since that is the only place certain to have the most sizes and types of screws.

I really wish the Americans had moved to using Metric system as well, will probably only happen after Jesus returns to the earth by the looks of it.

I shall see what should be done about the screw model later. As long as I can find a similar part to what I have in my shops here, it will be enough, it does not need to match exactly.

Adding screws, dowel, bolts, nuts and washers into wood design project.

Wood designs also use dowels for alignment of position of differnet panels and fasteners to connect things together. To make the process easier there are also things like threaded inserts. Now all this stuff is going to be bought from store and then used during the assembly process of the wooden assembly.

Let me explain. Some popular wood screw brands in the UK: TurboDrive, EasyDrive, Diall, Timco among many others. There are standard diameter and lengths that each brand sells along with thread. There are basically two type of thread called coarse and fine. I would be quite surprised if I had to design each screw myself. The dowels and other things like screw hole cover for Kreg pocket-holes are also sold in the market.

Now my simple question is, how do I get fastner and other things that exist in the market for wood assembly, into the Fusion 360 project of woodwork? I am sure it will be as simple as adding a library of parts and then selecting apart from it. I expect a simple solution (even if it costs some money) since adding fastners is quite common for any sort of project. But where do I find it and how do I add it? Do I reall need to look for each individual screw and washer 3D model and scavenge it from the internet? 3D models from random places on the internet might not be accurate.

I am also looking for models of castor wheels of cabinets. The idea is that, I should be able to get model of the exact castor wheel I intend to use. In any case, at the end, I should be able to produce a bill of materials that shows all the part number and manufacturer code for every screw, dowel, castor wheel and other off the shelf parts required to build the wooden project.

there's a fairly new fastener insert utility that will cover most of our fastener needs. for other fasteners, and also a lot of the stuff like inserts and castors, McMaster-Carr has a 3d model for most everything. there's a insert utility for that also. the McMaster-utility is kind of clunky, so I usually go directly to the website to download models.

I would generally suggest using the "3d-step no thread" version of the models for your purposes.

We are working continuosly on adding new content (fasteners) in to the Fasteners Library in Fusion. If you can't find any fastener(s) , for instance if you search for "dowel", you shoyld see a link below for "request for additional content" . Use the form and specify your requirements there, please.

yes, I have spent some time looking at the results of various searches. The only thing is that I would need such a detailed exposition of the parts that I buy from local store here. I will look for data sheet today for the screws that I possess.

Give Hafele a try. They are a top supplier to the joinery industry in the UK (and Europe) and have CAD files for lots (but not all) of their products and they are all metric. You will need an account to order directly from Hafele but there are many online resellers in the UK. Anything you download will be given the item number as a file name which will help you to specify their product/item codes in your BOM.

Example: https://www.hafele.co.uk/en/product/single-wheel-castor-swivel-with-or-without-brake-wheel-50-75-mm-plate-fixing/66306910/?MasterSKU=P-00869467
