topic Re: Closed Xref doc can't be moved even after link broken in Fusion Design, Validate & Document Forum

Hi @Anonymous,

Thanks for the post. The reason we don't allow the xref'd doc to be deleted in this case is so we can support undo of the break link command. Because when the user breaks the link, and we allow the deletion of the xref'd doc, then an undo of the break link command would be in trouble. I admit the user message is a bit cryptic. We'll see if it can be improved.

BTW, you don't need to restart Fusion to be able to delete the xref'd document. You only need to close your "Host" file.

Thx and regards,

If a doc (Xref) is inserted into another (Host), and the link to the Xref is broken in the host, and the Xref doc is closed, that should free up (disassociate) the Xref to do with it what you will, either move it or delete it, or whatever. However the current behaviour is that the Xref doc cannot be moved, Fusion tells us the doc is flagged as "in use", even if it isn't (or shouldn't be).

Workaround is to quit and restart fusion.
