@Anonymous

There are several ways to do this. A Sweep seems to me a good choice.

1) Construct the Sketch for the top of the ladder.

2) Extrude to the desired thickness and apply Fillets.

3) Create the Sketch for the countersink.

4) Make the Sweep.

Hope is of any help.

Best regards,

Countersunk Tray in Ladder Top Plate help needed?

Hi Guys,

I'm trying to learn how to use Fusion 360 and spending many hours a day trying to become familiar with its capabilities while increasing mine. I'm a newbie of a few weeks now.

At the moment my learning consists of taking 3 steps forward and then step 4 slaps me in the face and I sends me to more reading or more video tutorials. But in general, I'm starting to come to grips with how to work with this program. I'm learning lots too.

Anyway, I've messed with Planes, Sketches and Shapes, applied Appearance Textures etc, and I thought I would replicate a real physical product, in this case, a Two Step Aluminium Ladder. I had no problem (while learning) how to Sweep and Extrude the legs of the Ladder to the exact angle, as well as complete the feet and rungs (steps) of the Ladder. The top of this small Ladder has a Top Plate that unites the Legs together and becomes the very highest level of the Ladder after the set of ascending rungs. I profiled on a Plane the side of the Top Plate, Extruded it without any problems. Most Ladders try to value add to the Ladder by providing some usable feature to the flat surface of the Top Plate. In this instance the Ladder's Top Plate has some holes (Square & Round) for Tools like Paint Brushes and ScrewDrivers. It was easy for me to Extrude the relevant holes out, but then I became stuck on an area of the Top Plate and no matter where I look I cannot seem to stumble on the correct, simplest approach. The Top Plate has a countersunk Tray for say, lying a screwdriver down or holding screws in it. (Please see attachment) The surface level of the Top Plate Tray has a rectangle shape (with Fillet corners) which then slides away to the lowest level which is bound to another smaller rectangle which has different (and sharper) Fillet corners. I have tried using 'Loft' from the highest level Shape Plane to the lowest level Shape Plane and while it creates the sliding drop down effect of the Tray, it still fills in the area at the highest surface area, so I don't get that countersunk Tray look.

If any Guru here could point me in the right direction or explain to me what is the best way to achieve the look of the countersunk tray in my attachment I would be greatly appreciative. This problem, has this newbie stumped.

(Oops, btw, the view of the Ladder is from the side, looking down on top of the Two Step Ladder)

Cheers in Advance.
