Hoping someone has run into this. I've gone though the settings multiple times and have searched the interwebs and can't find the reason for this. When I add tabs to any cutout, it leaves divots in the material when it cuts. I'm using the contour feature (see image). Appreciate any guidance in advance!

Have you tried low profile triangular tabs?

I have the same problem. I think it is due to the plunge or ramp part of the tab changing the direction.
try larger stock to leave. Then finish bottom with very slow passes

As @jeffescott says, using triangular tabs will put less stress on the cutter. Instead of tabs I use painters tape and CA glue. There are quite a few tutorials for this on the internet. Basically, just apply painters tape to the workpiece and the spoilboard, then put CA glue between them. Tabs are used only as the last resort.

I will give it a try. Just in theory, I'm not sure why it's doing what it's doing but we'll see.

Thank you!

Hi @FoxDesignWorks,

This is a topic that I pointed out years ago that tabs is a very nice option but as it is created it is crab.

At least you like to have a lead-in/lead-out.

So making a triangle tab increases the bad-cutting condition but you will still see the transitional movement on top of the triangle.

So if you want to make it perfect, you have to draw it yourself as sketches. 😔

<SAMP>If my post answers your question Please use Accept as Solution & Kudos This helps everyone find answers more quickly!</SAMP>
