topic Converting stl to model object in Fusion Design, Validate & Document Forum

I downloaded this simple stl file: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1571672/#files

Then I repaired it in Microsoft 3D Builder and saved as .obj and .stl file. I imported it to Fusion 360 and tried to convert to a mesh body and get an error "high percentage of triangles" Triangles = 5546

If I choose as Selection Filter "T-spline body" or "BRep Face" I can't select anything. I've watched various screencasts that seem not entirely applicable to the latest version of Fusion 360 (preview mesh workspace mode) and cannot figure out how to import this fairly simple object into Fusion 360 and convert it to an object for further editing. What am I missing?

Hi @Anonymous,

Are you trying to convert Mesh body to Breb body?

If yes then please follow below screen cast video.

That's great, how did you get it to merge without all those triangles? When I tried that based on the previous screencast it only works for a couple of sides. Also the scale is wrong when I imported it but your scale is correct.

My preference is to use faceted stl only for 3D printing or only as reference in remodeling from scratch.

When I tried this the scale was completely off. How do I fix that?
