Experiencing problems with creating threads

How do I build the outside thread on this oiler cup? It keeps wanting to thread the ID.

It looks like the thread tool will not let you selected a tapered cylinder. Change the angle below to 90° and it works. If you need a tapered thread you could use coil and construct it.

can you illustrate how to go back and change this dimension to 90 degrees. Im doing something else wrong. once I change it, the time line won't allow me to change where I am at in the drawing.

Use the Origin geometry whenever possible.

You wouldn't walk out to the shop floor and start machining this part from any location in space.

First thing you do is set up your origin.

You can right click to get to Diameter Dimension.

Use Geometry Constraints in preference over angle 90° dimensions.

@TheCADWhisperer How are you getting the diameter option, if I right click a dimension I don't have that option.

Right click edit.

Right click while applying dimension

@TheCADWhisperer OK figured it out you don't pick the line you're dimensioning you pick the 2 lines it's joined to.
