I have a recurring feature that I am placing 15 times at a specific interval. I'd like to make sure I'm doing this in the best way. I'm creating a sketch box then copying and pasting it at the required interval (1.5"). To get the spacing right I'm having to create a sketch box of the right size (1.5" x 1.5") and placing my features after eyeballing (I know that has to be bad) the location to place. The surface I'm placing them on has a curve (see the screen shot). It seems like there should be an easier way to do this.

Thanks!

Tim

Hi @Anonymous,

First, try avoiding Patterning in the sketch environment, unless it's really few recurrences. To Pattern a feature, you extrude it, make sure it looks the way you want it, and then like in your case, you just need to use the Pattern on Path. You can find it under the Create menu => Pattern.

Turn the sketch back on and use the curve as the Path for the Pattern.

Please let me know if you need more help.

Cheers / Ben
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Did you find this reply helpful ?

Thanks Ben. I went ahead and added the feature to my sketch then extruded it. Now the feature is present but I can't see how to select it as it is part of the overall body created with the extrude operation.

Thanks,

Tim

My fault, I forgot to mention, that you need to extrude it as a new body first. Then after you create the Pattern, you can use the Combine tool to combine the pattern and the main body.

If the spacing are all the same you could use pattern on path and select faces or select the extrude feature from the time line. See attached file.
