Here is a screencast showing how I applied joints to your design. It's a bit long, and has audio. But, I was able to get the mechanism to work pretty well.

ok.. stupid me.. second try and little different but almost same.

I made all bodies - components and I think the flow is correct.

I did all assembly as revollute except 1 cylendrical on spacer and adjusted the movement parameters but could not get it to work again.

I deleted the joints.. and just have the parts.. I need an understand on now to add the parts as they would work on the model

http://a360.co/2cP28bn

Hey JEFF..

Thanks for the awesome explanation and video.

A few things I see that I did not do.. when i do assemblies.. i am clicking the two pieces (typically the round edge closest to joining) as I watched your video I saw you clicked the assembly first then the surfaces of the piece to be joined. Great work there.

The cam is used to pull a brake cable, my idea was to give it a minimum amount of effort but great full with less force.

I did also do a full uninstall and reinstall as I think my version or running program had some bugs.. I could not move my pieces after using the assembly command. (prior to seeing your video and answer.

I have it working and I will post a link..

One of the guys here did an animation with the rendering. could i get a walk thru on how to do this?

Have an awesome day!!

John

Hi @zenkustumz,

Glad you were able to make it work.

Regarding how to make a video rendering, there are unfortunately a couple of tricks to it:

You have to create a Motion Study in your design. It's under the assembly drop down in the Modeling toolbar. This command lets you set up and move several joints at the same time. With your mechanism, you won't need a complex Motion Study - just drive one of the joints through its range of motion, and the rest will follow.

Save the model

Go into the Render workspace, set up the view, and do a regular cloud rendering of just the model (don't bother trying to specify video, that comes later)

This was the key step I missed when I was trying to do the same thing. You have to do one cloud rendering. I'm not sure why...

Wait for that to finish. Then, view it by clicking on it, and if your model has a Motion Study in it, you should see this little triangle in the view:

If you click on that, it will bring up a dialog letting you specify the parameters for the video rendering. Choose those as you like, submit it, and wait for it to finish. Then, when you click on that rendered view it should show a video

As I said, it's complex, (we're trying to fix this workflow), but it does work nicely. The video rendering is quite nice.

If you can't get it to work, let me know - a video might be easier to follow.
