Project sketch onto curved surface

Hey there, I am very new to Fusion 360 and CAD/CAM programs in general.Im trying to project text(DXF file) on a curved suface and then create a engraving G code program .I keep getting this error when trying to project the text onto a surface and not sure what I'm doing wrong

Warning: Not support projecting sketch geometry into same sketch, please change the target sketch or geometry.

Any tips/help appreciated

Hi @twood213,

That is correct, you need to create a new sketch for projecting a sketch on a curved surface.

Here is one way you can do it. Since you have a dxf file you wont need to extrude the geometry first just select your sketch instead of the geometry.
