Thank you guys, now I have material to study for one month night and day! Hehe.

Jokes aside, I would like to post my model but I can't, I'm sorry. The owner of this project doesn't agree to post the design. As soon as I have the same problems on others components I will post here the related file.

In any case I'm learning while designing and working, so I hope to improve the quality of my 3D models along the way.

Thank you very much for your quick and useful support!

Frank.

Hello guys, I always encounter serious problems when I try to modify an old sketch (=back in the timeline). I think this is common to

other users. The path is the following:

- Select an old sketch in the browser and clik "Edit Sketch"

- edit the sketch as needed and click "Stop sketch"

- When the window returns to the standard model (design) environment Fusion ALWAYS advises me that there are problems with some objects or features.

The problems are various like missing fillet or chamfer, missing objects, missing holes, etc, totally independent from the changes made. Sometimes the missing are in positions far from the sketch edited so that is impossible to find them immediately.

At this moment, in my opinion, it's impossible to use the command "Edit sketch" in a safe mode, so that I always make a new sketch for any change I need.

There is chance to fix this big problem?

Thank you,

Francesco.

Any chance you can attach the file? Your statement is generally true if changes are big. Meaning edges and faces that later features are based on can disappear or others get added. The robustness of the model really depends on how you build it. That is why we try to hold filets and patterns toward the end. This is also true in other cad programs

Thank you Timm.

In fact I'm a newbie in using this 3D cad and in general in using CAD software. For sure I will follow your tip to hold the design simple toward the end.

Francesco.

@Anonymous

I suspect the issue your up against is "Design Intent" and in my opinion this is the biggest issue people new to CAD face.

This is a small but pretty good article on the subject:

https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/20140424180856-18102574-what-is-this-design-intent-i-keep-hearing-about

The more you learn about design intent the less brick walls you will run into when editing your old sketches.

Keep in mind though that no matter how good you get at forward thinking of your designs you will always have issues to resolve, but have good design intent will limit the amount of headaches you end up with in your designs.

As @TMC.Engineering stated try to do all your fillets, chamfers and holes at the end of your design. Something as simple as a fillet can break your entire history of actions when editing old sketches.
