The drawing environment, is it the elephant in the room?

Hi,

I am working with Fusion for several years now, previously working with Inventor.

I am really a fan of Fusion360 and what is able with this software, i use it on a daily basis for design and manufacturing.

But i have to say, the drawing enviroment is really bad... compared to the rest of fusion. I was hoping many bugs are sorted after all these years, but still lacks in fundamental operation.

It looks like the A-team developed Fusion360 and (sorry to say) an intern has done the drawing environment.

I am from Europe, in our drawings we frequently use ISO fits ISO 286 (Don't know English translation). This function was really handy in Inventor, in Fusion you have to use "leader note" as a workaround and your dimension isn't linked to the 3D model because it is text.

Another thing that is missing in my opinion is chamfer dimension, this also was a nice function in inventor.

But the thing i really get frustrated about is the performance of the drawing environment, for example, Fusion360 crashes of freezes when you change a value in the dimension tab when you change a tolerance for example. So now i just save my file after every dimension i put in the drawing. It has cost me countless hours to redo drawings because when you are almost finished and are putting the last dimension on the sheet, fusion crashes, no recovery file was created and you can start all over again.

I work with 3 Fusion360 accounts on different desktops and laptops. With every account on every device i have the same issues with the drawing environment.

all and all it is not working as fine as the complete rest of Fusion360 and i would like to see that basic functionality is as good as the rest and other environments in Fusion360.

The functions as chamfer dimension and use of ISO fits are a wish for the future. but i think basic functionality is mandatory.

I was wondering how other people are dealing with this, i can imagine that i am not the only one who is encountering these issues.

I'm sorry to hear that you have been affected by some performance issues. I'd love to talk to you about the gaps that you are seeing in functionality.

Every customer request that we get, from meetings, emails, forum posts etc. gets collected and categorized in our feature request database. This information is used to prioritize the features that we build. It looks like your feature requests are chamfer notes and limits and fits.

I'd love to hear from you directly, I would like to understand how you are using Fusion drawings, and would love to understand your workflow requirements. If you could share the datasets where you are seeing performance issues with us, the team can do some analysis on these.
