topic offset multiple lines in Fusion Design, Validate & Document Forum

I am a beginner with a mac and I am trying to offset half of bottle neck . I projected the sketch using the front view and then drew lines to link the points on half of the sketch. When I tried to offset the lines to include the entire half of the sketch I was unable to include all the lines in the offset. Sometimes only one line would offset and others I could include several. What would be the cause for this error?

Hi, To offset multiple entities, the geometry needs to be connected with a Coincident constraint (the endpoints are connected) and check the "Chain Selection" option in the Offset dialog box. If the entities are not connected, you'll need to offset them individually. This would be a good suggestion for the Fusion 360 IdeaStation.

Hope this helps.

Correct, click the Coincident Constraint from the Sketch Palette, and then select 2 endpoints. This will connect the selected points.

I am a beginner, enough said. I am trying to get the offset multiple to work. I have reviewed this issue with 4 different tutorials, all the same instructions nothing works. The Offset multiple function does not display the doted line indicating where the copy will go to. I have completed the following commands

Offset

distance

select object to offset

M for multiple

then it asks for a point or exit.... Then I get a vertical y axis line. Their is no doted line which would designate where your multiple item would go.

I must be missing something very basic but after 3 hours I can not figure it out.

Written in haste, Ann

What do you mean by Offset Multiple? In the Model workspace, you can offset multiple sketch items as long as their endpoints are coincident. You can't offset one item to create multiple offset instances of that item in one command. You can create multiple offsets of a single item in multiple commands.

There is another way other than using the coincident tool.

Hold down the control key and select all the lines and curves you want to offset

Right click

Click the dropdown "Sketch" tab

Click offset

Set your desired values

Click ok; or if it doesn't allow you to, then select another tool to switch it off of the offset

😉
