Greetings,

I'm facing a situation where some timeline steps are grayed out and not showing in the side browser unless I roll back history before a specific step. Also, some of these steps are movable along the timeline while others are not. what am I missing here? I ran into this as I was trying to move a cons. plane step before a sketch to be able to redefine the plane to this plane.

Cheers,

Hani

It is difficult to give a precise answer without having the actual Fusion file at hand, but if you have used that construction plane as a sketch plane somewhere, then I would imagine you will be running into problems when trying to move it.

Hi TrippyLighting
Thank you very much for willing to help,
I have uploaded my file to the 360 gallery under the name (Plane Modle). I'm trying to create a loft between the two profiles at the edges using rails, the loft command always complains that the rails are not touching the profiles, so I try to use constraints to coincide the end of the splines with the profiles. when I edit the sketch to bring up the constraints box, the side profiles, which happen to be individual sketches, disappear from the work window and become grayed-out in the timeline and also disappear from the browser. I hope i was able to clarify my issue.
BR
Hani

Ok I looked at your file and you have errors in your timeline. You used the delete command instead of the remove command and that's why those are there.

When you are working with history turned on and you reference models or other sketches you can't delete the referenced geometry or sketches. If you do your timeline features will light up yellow and you get a Waring asking if you want to proceed. Instead what you should have done is right clicked on the model in the tree and selected remove not delete.

I don't see anything greyed out on the timeline. Can you give more info on what you mean by greyed out items in the timeline?

This happens because you have history turned on. Your going to a time when the other sketches didn't exist so they disappear. If you turn off history the sketches wont disappear but you lose parametrics and history.

This is why design intent is so important. You have to plan out how you want to be able to work. For instance you wanted to move a construction plane to a spot in the timeline and it wouldn't let you. That's because the reference for the construction plane didn't exist where you wanted to move it. You either need to move the reference to a spot before that or go back and define a new construction plane and use that new plane for your sketch. A lot of times what I do is define reference points for stuff like this as my first step using a sketch that way I can move anything referencing it where I need to. I would suggest taking measurements and writing them down on paper, then go all the way back in your timeline and create those reference sketches for your construction planes and relink your construction planes to that first sketch. I hope this makes sense.

Hi Phil,

Your video was a great help, I was able to create the loft as you can see in the attached file, unfortunately it did not produce a uniform circular shape along the length which was my aim from using this approach. your point about using T-spline is also very valid, it was my first approach I'm attaching that also. do you know of any way to get a uniform body using the loft command?

If you'd like to know why I want to use the loft method I'll be glad to elaborate.

BR

Hani
