You can multiply two dimensions together, but you need to be "units aware". Dimensions are in length units (e.g. mm). So, thinking back to your high school physics and "units balancing", if you multiply two values which are "mm", you end up with "square mm", or "mm * mm". So, to get this to work, you have to get rid of one of those extra "mm" to get it to be a valid value for another length dimension, so you would need to divide by "1 mm".

I agree that this is not very user friendly, and we could certainly make it easier, but that's the way it is today.

Hi,

In fusion 360, if I create one user parameter "a" and a second "b" and give them any numeric value

I apparently can't create a third parameter being "c" = "a" * "b"

while I can in solidworks

(see attached pictures)

am i doing something wrong or is it impossible to do in fusion 360?

Hi @Anonymous,

Just change the "c" name to something else and it will work.

i was able to do a+b by using "d" as name (why would "c" work differently?)

but still not able to do a*b

C is used for centigrade, you can't use any of the unit abbreviations as a name for a parameter.
