How to design these models

Can anyone help me in video showing how to design what is in the attachement. If you play the video you would see how it designed but I do not know how to design it so please by video showing what to do to design it thanks

Hi,

There are plenty of videos on the AutoDesk Fusion site to learn the software. The Documentation files are also filled

with short tutorials. You need to learn the software before trying to model something complex.

That being said, the little row of icons at the bottom is the Timeline. If you slowly step through the timeline at one

icon at a time then it will show you how the model was created.

Each icon is a step in the process and they tell you what they are. While you can use this to work out how it was

done you would be better off doing it yourself. There are some dubious steps I can see in this timeline that are

not good workflow methods.

Just revolve this shape:

Then add the arms using another sketch. Extrude and Pattern the arm.

Notes:

Draw the center at the Origin.

Don't use the Move command to position bodies. This will lose their position relative to the sketch(es) used to create them.

It's pretty straight forward once you've created the sketches.

@jeff_strater A rather embarrassing bug in the circular pattern. Note that a quantity of 6 was entered, but only 5 exist.

Draw the revolve profile on the XZ or YZ plane with the center on the origin. Draw the extrude profiles on the XY plane.

Whoever did the original design did not know how to use Fusion - so we will start over from scratch step-step.

Step 1.

Start a new file and then start a new sketch on the XZ Plane.

Sketch a vertical line as shown below at the Origin.

Dimension the Vertical line a height of 3.5mm

Right click on the Vertical line and select Centerline.

Step 2.

Sketch a Horizontal line from the Origin to the right as shown below...

Note the white dot on the end of the Horizontal line.

Dimension from the centerline (pick the centerline) to the white dot (pick the white dot) as shown...

Note that the white dot now changed to black (fully defined).

Step 3.

Sketch a Vertical line and dimension 15mm as shown.

in that pic your dimensioning tool is still active. select cancel, select the line, and right click again.

In your video I never saw you select the vertical line.

(Tip: Selecting a Point is different than selecting a Line. A point is a point and a line is a line.)

Keen observation is absolutely critical in the field of design.

Your 56 dimension is a radius rather than diameter (Ø56) as shown in my instructions.

The diametral dimension is the reason we created the Centerline.

Post corrected file here for next set of steps.

Before I make a video - can someone else go through the steps I presented in Message 10 and review if I missed something important. I don’t want to create a video where I make the same mistake of omitted information.

I've checked and your instructions are very easy to follow and are correct apart from cancelling the dimension tool before right-clicking the first line (which you addressed in post #12).
