Hi Tony,

Thanks for this, as a model engineer I have found this, and your BA table, very useful.

I have, however, found an error. The data for the ME 7/32-40 internal thread has:

<MinorDia>0.11868</MinorDia>

I believe that the leading double 1 is a mistype, and the value should be 0.1868. (Achieved, in my case, by taking the average of the values for the threads either side.)

Cheers,

Nick

After creating the BA screw thread XML table, I was asked by a forum member (Stuart-H) if I could add an XML screw thread data table for the Model Engineer (ME) thread form. I have done so, however, the peculiarities of the thread (it has two forms: 32 and 40 TPI irrespective of diameter, plus my lack of knowledge of how F360 handles the XML nested screw thread data) means that there are 2 XML files, one for the 40TPI form and one for the 32TPI form.

I was not able to find the British Standard document that details the ME thread form (BS93:1911 ... if you happen to have one on your bookshelf, let me know!), so the tolerances are calculated. No guarantees they are correct! I sourced the ME data from Maryland Metrics. I have also added the Excel spreadsheet used for the calculations in case anyone is interested in further refinement of the tables!

The file can be downloaded using the link below. Tested working with the 11/2016 update.

Where to add the XML files:

To use the data, it has to be placed in the thread data folder ... can vary from machine to machine. On my non-networked system, it was found as follows (Nov-2016 location, a Mark - HughesTooling - pointed out, it WILL can change with every update, and so will need to be reloaded in the "new" location!):

c:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Local\Autodesk\webdeploy\production\[strange alphanumeric string ... if more than one, use the most recent]\Fusion\Server\Fusion\Configuration\ThreadData\

The RED parts of the address above will vary by user and machine.

Have fun model engineers, Tony
