Static stress: Error: Solver error, only when run locally

I was trying to do a very simple analysis of my model with one external force applied. But I got a Solver-error when I did the analysis locally. But if I set up the exact same simulation study, and chose to solve it in the cloud it could solve without trouble. Which seems very weird. Why am I not able to solve locally?

Welcome to the Fusion 360 community! Sorry to hear that you are having problems running your analysis locally. This has been reported on some macOS and Windows 10 environments, could you share the details of which operating system and version you are using? What is the error message that you receive when the analysis fails locally? Typically if it is FATAL ERROR S1101 or S1121 you can simply try re-running the analysis once or twice and it should go through successfully.

Hi @ryderbrooks,

At present this issue appears to be isolate to a certain subset of operating systems and does not present it self at every run. The development team is hard at work trying to resolve the matter and has been using user feedback to hone in on the specific environments where there this problem has been occurring. In the interim, we recommend users to simply re-run the analysis if they prefer to use local solve, or they can always use cloud solve.

Thanks for providing me details on the operating system that you are using, this will certainly help development track down the problem. What happens when you try to re-run the analysis a few times? Does it always fail, or does it periodically succeed? If it's always failing, could you share the model with me so I can try running it on my machine?

Thanks for attaching your model! I downloaded it and I was able to run everything locally without problem, which does point to the issue being associated with your environment. I will check with the development team on any further steps we can take. In the interim, it looks like you might be a student if that's the could you should have access to free cloud solving. Are you OK with running things in the cloud for the time being?

Yes, I am a student. As long as it does not cost money, I have no problem with running it on the cloud.

I am receiving the exact same response when trying to do a very simple simulation locally. I ran it in the cloud with the exact same setup on my personal hobbyist account but it will not work with my paid work account. My computer is running Windows 10 Enterprise. We are trying to evaluate this software for my company and this is a complete show stopper if we can't run very basic simulations.

Sorry for the late response and welcome to the Fusion 360 Community!

Just to check, are you still seeing this error? The simulation will solve successfully via the cloud, but not via your local computer? Couple quick things we can try if this is the case:

Open the offending design
Make a small change (such as suppress a load) and then change it back
Save the document
Exit out of the open model (not Fusion!)
Go to the Help menu and clear the local user cache
Restart Fusion and try to run the simulation locally

Does it solve? If not, can you share a download link to your model with me so that I can test around?

We are all human, for now.

But I appreciate the honest answer from Autodesk, as long as they are actually searching for a solution simultaneously. it seems like they are. Obviously, I wish it was faster, but its still a phenomenal tool.

I am also having this issue on just about every local run under Windows 10. Running it again will usually solve the issue, but it occurs at every model update. Fairly annoying.

Can not share the model, but see the error message below (there is plenty of disk space):

Error: 0
Cause : This is an internal error and should not occur under normal circumstances. The primary
cause of this error is due to insufficient disk space.
Action : Check to make sure there is sufficient amount of space on your hard drive. Purge the
temporary files and re-run the analysis. If you are running the analysis on a remote
file system (i.e., through a network), attempt to re-run the analysis on a local hard
drive. If the problem continues, please send the Model Input File to Autodesk
technical support. Note the version of Autodesk Nastran you are using.
