I'm glad it worked.

Probably the order was the problem.

I would do it so, that the pin (on which the retaining bolt rotates) is rigid to the saddle, the retaining bolt is revoluting (on the pin ofc), the washer is okay to be slider, and the wingnut is also revolute.

If it doesn't work this way, than probably the sliding washer will be the problem.

Karesz

Hi, all. I'm a total newb to Fusion 360. Trying to teach myself how to use it with Youtube videos and forums like this one.

I started building a pipe clamp based on this tutorial.

Great tutorial, but at the end, he runs out of time and just imports already-built components.

Anyway, I've gone ahead and built what I could figure out on my own.

But something I can't figure out is the joints. In videos, I see people manipulating the joints with their mouse in the Model space.
But I can't make that happen. When I edit a joint, I can animate it. But that's the only time I ever see it move.

Can someone take a look at my model and let me know what I'm missing?

I know that my wing nut and washer are too big for the flange they're engaging, but . . . with the joints that are there, why can't I manipulate them in the model. The retaining bolt won't swing out of the way. The clamp face won't swing up and over . . .

Don't know if this is the best way to share, but here's the model

Thanks!!!

HI RAWdad,

try to press ALT+left mouse button on the part where you created the joint.

Hopefully this is the problem, if not, I'll look at your linked modell. 🙂

Greets

Karesz

Thanks for the reply! I tried the alt+left click without success.
I tried activating the "retaining bolt" component and activating the top level with no difference in results.

So, I looked on your file.

Have you tried to ground your "Saddle" compoonent? After I grounded, I was able to move the Clamp and the retaining bolt too. Sadly I wasn't able to rotate the screw on the bolt. Try to redo the joint on that part.

I hope it was useful, if not, I look onto it tomorrow. 🙂

Greets

Karesz

Thanks!

As soon as I grounded the "saddle" the "clamp" component moved.
The retaining bolt would not move until I deleted the joints of the washer and wingnut.

When originally building it, I did the washer joint (sliding), then the wingnut joint (cylindrical), then the retaining bolt joint (revolute).

Does it want to be in the opposite order?
