Just a quick note, as you are starting over,

most engines do not have the Conrod connected to the main bearing as you appear to have it.

When rebuilt, connect the rod to the small pin,

or reverse the sizes of the shafts in the crankshaft, large axis for the bearing of the crank, and small axis connected to the rod, is more appropriate in the real world.

As if I didn't have enough to do ... eh?

So i was doing a small project for my school and i was doing a piston movement animation.

As the piston rod move downwards, i need it to revolute at the bottom.

I cant seem to get it to work. Any idea?

I am new to fusion 360.

First thing first!

1. You forgot R.U.L.E #1. You to apply it!

2. There are some warning which you must fix before you move forward!

3. Remember to build all the parts in-place!

4. You didn't have to slice the Cylinder house into two pieces. You could have just use the "Selection Analysis"

When you are done correcting the above, please let me know.

Cheers / Ben.

You to apply it!)

Sorry i am abit new to this, so i need to group the different parts in different components and name them?

2. There are some warning which you must fix before you move forward!

Where do i see the warning? I also try to undo when there is error

3. Remember to build all the parts in-place!

Hmm... I tried to put the parts in the location i need them or am i doing it wrong?

4. You didn't have to slice the Cylinder house into two pieces. You could have just use the "Selection Analysis"

What does selection analysis do? The cylinder cover(house) was cut by my friend when he show me how to use fusion 360 to show the inside of the cylinder in the animation later on. I wish this is not an issue later on. So i need to combine both of them together?

I tried to fix the issue u asked me to but i am 99% sure i did not do it properly.

can u help me check and tell me the stuff i need change.
In-place means, you create the parts where they need to be (in relation to each other) and not separate from each other. This way, you will only have to use the As-Built Joint.

The last time I checked it wasn't in place and the pin neither. But the rest of the parts were in place.
The model look pretty good, you just need to rebuild it correctly this time and then we can work on the joints and animation.

Yes, in your file you have plates holding a large shaft and two small shafts,

In the photo you will see the large end of the plates are used as counterweight, and are not connecting to the connecting rod for the piston. The photo also shows the main "crankshaft" is in the mid point of your plate, or said another way,

the heavy end of it has no connection, the small end of the plate would normally connect to the rod. And bearing connects to the mid point of the plate.

But it is your model to do as you see fit.

Thanks for the explanation but this project is just a demonstration that cylinder movement will produce sound so it was never to be a real product but if i got time i will do that.

As i was taught only the basics about the cylinder, i don't even know that crankshaft was built that way. Thanks for letting me learn something. 🙂

Basically i am just doing a very simple version only but not as simple as i thought.
