how to create an angled end to a square hollow bar and then add flanges

I am trying to draw a leg brace between two legs of a table. the legs are square and are at a 45 degree angle. So i need the hollow bar ends cut at a 45 degree angle and then attach a flange that will attach to the legs with bolts.

I am not sure how to go about this. I am truly a beginner. Thank yo for your input

You might be able to accomplish this with a Rib creation, then Shell modification. As for the flange, you can always create a sketch plane and extrude using the Join operation. I'm not sure if I'm understanding this correctly but if so, those 3 have worked for me.

You can see the holes placed in the legs where the flange would go. the
support piece would be welded onto the flange at a 45 degree angle.

There are quite a few different ways to do this.

I would create a sketch on one of the legs on a face with the holes. (Use the Look At command to make it easier to draw on the sketch).

Draw a rectangle the size of the flange (large enough to cover the holes).

Close that sketch.

Extrude the rectangle the desired thickness of the flange.

Move the crossbar so it's centered on the flange.

Use the combine tool to cut the crossbar at 45 degrees.

Decide if you're going to weld or bolt the crossbar to the flange plate.

If you're going to weld it, then you're done.

Otherwise, create a sketch on one of the upper or lower faces of the crossbar.

Draw the part of the flange that fits over (or inside) the crossbar.

Extrude it.

Use the combine tool to cut the crossbar out of the flange (if the flange fits over the crossbar).

Follow these steps to make a flange on one side, shorten the leg, then do the same on the other side. Once you have one leg, make 3 copies and position them where you need them and establish a joint if you like.
