I need to place three holes in a triangular formation with very specific between them but haven't figured out how to do that. For instance, I might have three holes in a, b, and c. I need A (distance between b and c) to be 83.7mm, B (a-c) to be 59.8 and C (a-b) to be 69.1. When I try to draw reference lines of these lengths, I can approximate A, B and C distances, but the I can not drag the triangle closed because the angles seem to be locked. I tried just placing the holes in something close to the desired position, setting the distance between the holes on two sides, but then I am not allowed to drag the ends together to close the triangle.

i can probobly do this by dusting off my trig skills (such as they are) but I think the whole idea of CAD was to allow the direct manipulation of features.i have tried to wade through the avalanche of documentation on line, but have not found anything to help me with this particular. Problem.

thank!

Chrlie.

Thank you for your reply

Yes, that is where I started. I can get to what you show in your
attachment, but then I need a very specific distance between the last two
holes that you do not show a distance for. That's my problem. On the two
holes that do not show a distance between them, I need to set the distance
to 59.8. I can create the diminsion between those two holes, but it won't
be what I need and won't let me drag them or to set the dimension to what
it needs to be. My guess is there is a very simple way to do that, but I
don't know enough about F360 to know what that solution is.

I'm sure it has something to do with constraints but don't know what.

There is no design yet because this is where it starts. I need to design a triangle with these three holes in the corners and that will define the outer edges of the plate, but getting past this is my starting point. The jpeg you sent is as good a diagram of what I need as I could provide. I just need the missing dimension to be

Basically, I need a triangular plates, with a 3mm hole in each corner. The centers of holes a and b is 69.1 mm apart. the centers of holes b and c is 83.7 mm apart, and the centers of holes a and c is 59.8 mm apart.

These measurements are for example only. I need to make several of these triangular plates in different dimensions.

addendum: looking at your screen cast, you are doing exactly what I need to do. But when I do it, I am fine setting the first two dimensions, but when I try and set the final dimension, I get a box that shows the dimension as it is, but it is not editable. I can't change the final dimension. That's where I'm stuck.

Can you provide a screenshot at the stage with the uneditable third dimension? Get a screenshot of the entire Fusion window, not just the dimension part. You should be able to have driven dimensions on those 3 distances, so I want to see if something else is constraining the hole locations.

Actually, in setting up for the screen shot, I took another look at your vid segment and realize you where doing something a little bit different than I was. I was selecting the two hole centers, clicking dimention and right clicking and selecting "align". When I did it as you did; select the two centers; select deminsion and click between the two, it came up editable and I was able to accomplish what I needed to do. So you solved it for me. Thank you.
