I can't repeat that behavior. Try creating a sketch with a fully restrained rectangle at the Origin. first and see if the Coil snaps then?

Hi,

I don't know if it is my mistake or a bug, but I can't find how to snap the center of the coil when I start the feature.

I can select a plane/sketch, but next the center point of the coil don't snat on any existing entities, even Origin or center of the circle if I select one...

Did I miss something?

Many Thanks

in fact you don't need to draw a rectangle, the coil snap to the "origin" that's all,
but if you want to use another point on any other location (and remain associated to this one) it don't...

Yes snaps to Origin or with centre co-linear to the origin plane intersections. I think all the Solid Primitives do this.

https://youtu.be/Eg7sS87GMPg?si=aPLdkQ2Weksfv8o7&t=74

Indeed,

I did'nt realize this behavior before, as I'm more used to generate solid from sketches...

But in the case of the "coil", when you need to generate a "non conventional" thread as in my use case... I was supposed to snap to a hole somewhere in a body with no relation with the "origin" and was a little "lost"...

could it be possible to enhance this feature? I mean add some "reference" to a primitive? like you can do for "hole" or "thread" ?

You can connect a primitive, in this case your coil, to a sketch point and manipulate the point to position the coil. I did not go through all the possibilities but for example you can add a line to the same sketch and rotate the coil around it using the Move Rotate option. Once you realize you can hook a Primitive to a sketch you have a lot of possibilities.

<video-js data-video-id="6349941224112" data-account="6057940548001" data-player="default" data-embed="default" class="vjs-fluid" controls="" data-application-id="" style="width: 100%; height: 100%;"></video-js>
(view in My Videos)

Ok,
Yes it works...
it's not very usual, and a little disturbing vs the regular way to construct something, but as a workaround it's fine...
Many Thanks
