I'm just starting a trial of Fusion. While attempting to do several operations I am presented with a dialog box that is too narrow to display the contents (See vertical bar in front of the half-hull). I've tried dragging it wider but it won't drag, I've tried hitting the (+) icon a the top but it disappears when moused over.

In this particular example I would like to mirror the hull, but the options are unreadable and clicking where it says |RRO| or |NFO| has no effect. I assume the dialog box is meaningful otherwise it wouldn't be displayed.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Did you try dragging the bottom right corner to resize. You could try to reset the layout Ctrl+Alt+R

Dragging corner was the first thing I tried, I just tried again to confirm. I can not change the size. I tried ctrl+alt+r. Nothing.

Intermittently, when I click on the lower part where it shows |NFO| I will get a dialog popping up on my other monitor telling me "Select the objects to mirror...", a button for "More Information", and another button "Cancel". However, as soon as my mouse leaves the narrow box, this new box disappears.

I had something similar happen to the comment dialog a while ago, I think closing and restarting Fusion fixed it. Might have need to reboot my computer as well, can't remember.

I've tried quitting and restarting Fusion to no avail earlier. Right now I am trying to quit Fusion to reboot but it won't let me because the dialog box to save the project won't appear. I'm forcing a quit as there was nothing there I really needed to save.

I just Force Quitted, and restarted, the dialog boxes are still narrow and unreadable.

In the interest of science I also tried shutting off my second monitor, quitting and restarting. No change.

@HughesTooling Thanks for tagging me! I've never seen this before!

@Anonymous Thank you for posting about this and I'm sorry that this is happening.

I'm curious if you close the Getting Started window if the behavior changes.

If you dock the dialog, does it look any different or respond to trying to change the size of the dialog? See the below link for help with how to do this. It does assume that you can drag the dialog somehow.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-dock-undock-toolbars-and-dialog-boxes-in-Fusion-360.html

Can you tell me more about your system? There's a graphics diagnostic command in the help menu. There's a copy to clipboard command that will copy information about your system's graphics cards. Can you paste the results in a reply?

If you use the Open in Low Resolution mode, does that help?

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Performance-Tips-for-running-Fusion-360-on-high-resolution-monitor.html

Any chance you've tested just restarting the computer (full hardware reboot not restarting Fusion)?

If none of that helps, I think performing a clean uninstall (see automatic tool here) and then re-installing may also be another good test. Perhaps something went wrong during the install...

I'm very interested to see your response. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

It is the same with the Getting Started window closed. Docking/Undocking does not seem to have any effect.

I have done a full hardware reboot as well as quitting and relaunching Fusion.

I've had a couple crashes during this process, I've sent the crash reports.

I just tried restarting in Low Resolution mode and now I can not see the top and left side of the Fusion window and can also can not reach the top of the window to move it to where I could see it. (screen capture below the system reports) When I switched back out of Low Res mode the problem persisted. In Launch Pad it showed as "Paused" but in the "Purchased" window of the app store it allowed me to Open. The "Paused" notification persisted in Launch Pad even after a couple reboots, but it currently shows as fully available in Launch Pad.

I've now run the clean uninstall application, thrown away the application, run the clean uninstall again, reinstalled the app via the app store, run the uninstall again for good measure. The narrow dialog box issue still persists.

It is a shame. I like a lot of what I see in Fusion 360, but I can't use it because a simple dialog box won't work.

Have you done any customizations to fonts on your system? I need to track down which font is used in the dialogs, but I'm wondering if Restoring the Standard Fonts in the Fontbook might help.

https://sayzlim.net/restore-default-fonts-mac/

I'd really like you to use it too! I hope we can get to the bottom of it. Your system looks more than adequate to run Fusion 360. I wish I had a solution in hand, but I haven't run into this one before. Thanks in advance for being the guinea pig and sorry for the troubles!

Thanks,

I have fonts I use for various projects that are not contained in the original system, but I have not done customization in terms of removing standard fonts or modifying existing fonts.

That said, I "Restored The Standard Fonts". No change. Rebooted the hardware, no change.

This issue was not resolved before my trial period expired, therefore I have been unable to evaluate the product and can not determine if Fusion 360 is appropriate for my needs. Thank you for your time.

I consulted with the development team, they recommend to delete a specific file after resetting the fonts.

Can you try to delete the following file off of the system and then start Fusion 360 to see if there is any difference?

Macintosh HD > Users > *** > Library > Application Support > Autodesk > Neutron Platform > Options *** > NULastDisplayedLayout.xml

I hope that helps!

Thanks,

I've extended your trial 30 days. Can you give the suggestion a try and let me know if it helps?

Thank you for the continuation of the trial period. Before deleting NULastDisplayedLayout.xml I went ahead and tried Fusion. It requested and performed an update before starting. The dialog boxes worked fine, I was able to perform the mirroring operation I was originally attempting to perform and dialog boxes for other functions appear to be displaying correctly.

Unfortunately, this does not help you in debugging my original issue, but at least I can resume evaluating Fusion for my requirements. Thanks.
