topic Cannot open fusion in Fusion Design, Validate & Document Forum

Hi. Sorry I realise this is a category for design however there is no forum for problems and/or troubleshooting.

Last time I used Fusion 360 I must for some reason have set it to offline mode, probably unwittingly. I have just tried opening it a number of times and get a pop-up that says "You have been working in offline mode for more than the allowed period of 2 weeks. Please connect to the internet and login to your A360 account to continue." I click ok and the program just automatically closes itself off. I've signed into my account on the fusion website, I can't see anything about activity etc. or anything to sort the issue. Am I missing something or has Fusion just bricked itself?

Thanks.

I have just this minute seen the notice about maintanence, I guess that explains what's done it. However it doesn't explain why Fusion thinks I've been in offline mode for two weeks and why I cannot use it offline, because I absolutely haven't. I last used it on Friday and I know for certain I was using it online as I used a file from my cloud storage.

Any suggestions, any way around this?

Hi @Anonymous - since we're in the middle of a maintenance window that has taken the Fusion system offline, in your scenario Fusion cannot check-in to re-verify your account. As soon as the maintenance is complete, you should be able to login successfully.

Hi Brian, thanks for the swift reply. I managed to get in by making a new user account on Windows and firing up up via that. If the problem on my main account persists post update I will get in touch with the log files.

I have never worked offline before, will any work be saveable to HDD/recoverable once I close the program?

Thanks.

PS. Anyone with this issue who needs/wants to use Fusion now, you can make a new user account to open Fusion with as mooted above. If your install is default like mine and your launcher is in your main users AppData folder, you will have to grant permission for the new account to access the main users documents.

Obviously there is no cloud connection so this is only useful for new projects, which is what I needed it for.

Hey @Anonymous - thanks for the suggestion! As for saving, all work saved when offline is locally cached and will sync with the cloud when connected again.

Hi @Anonymous and all - that message is odd since you are still able to work in Fusion with the message. As Brian says, if you are still able to work and save locally, Fusion will sync everything up when you are back online, which should be within 15 minutes (or immediately if you restart Fusion). Please come back and confirm when you are back online, so we know the message is the issue we need to investigate.

Thanks @Anonymous - Fusion closing when you get that notification is expected. I may have mis-read from the posts that some people were able to continue working (running Fusion) after getting that message. Can you launch Fusion normally using whatever client previously gave you the "You've been offline for two weeks..." message?

That message is tied to validation of the version of the Fusion client and is independent of your account login - your suggestion of logging into another account should not have worked, but I'm glad it helped you work during the outage. Hopefully, you are back up and running normally at this point.

If you or any customer would like any further help troubleshooting an issue on your end, please drop me a line at brent.espenship @ autodesk.com, and I'll do what I can to help get you back up and running as expected. It will be helpful if you take a snapshot of your log files to help us investigate. If you are able to now launch Fusion normally - go to the upper right help drop-down list -> Diagnostic Log Files. If not, let me know what version of Fusion you are running (Windows streamer, Mac streamer, Mac App Store, and I can walk you through getting your log files.

Thanks again and cheers,

I just checked Fusion again, all is working as normal with no message, so the problem was definitely caused by the maintenence.

I guess the new account thing worked as the server was down so I couldn't log in, the log in timed out and just dumped me into the work space (possible way to get around having a subscription there?). I couldn't save the project but it was only a small simple toolpath I wanted to generate so I managed to do what I wanted anyway and losing the project is no bother.
