Sketched bend

Would a sketched bend (like in Solid Works) be an easy implementation into the current features? I wonder if it would be helpful until the ability to recognize sheet-metal from other sources is finished. Not optimal but one could work with an imported flat pattern and add bends.

I am interpreting your description as the desire to sketch a flange as shown in the image below and join to the sheet metal body when created. This will be a part of the initial release, it just didn't make it in time for the preview.

Can you provide some more details around what you mean by "it would be helpful until the ability to recognize sheet-metal from other sources is finished". Is there a specific workflow that you are looking for with other CAD tools?

The sketch bend feature in Solid Works: pix included

- with a sheet metal part - place a sketch on the part face for the bend centerline.

-indicate the angle of bend and mash the magic bend em up button.

My thinking was if this was an easy addition (looks simple to me:) just a flat pattern of a formed sheet-metal part from a different CAD program could be imported into Fusion, configured as sheet metal and then manually add the bends. This would be as a workaround until Fusion has the ability to recognize formed sheet-metal parts from other CAD programs. If that ability is a couple of weeks away there is probably no need, but if we are looking at a few months it may be quite useful for those of us who have existing sheet-metal parts we would love to get into Fusion. I don't use the sketched bend tool on a regular basis myself, but it does come in handy from time to time.

Thank you for the details and images, I now understand the workflow you are trying to accomplish. The work to implement bend line compared to the reuse of other CAD sheet metal parts is negligible. For this reason the second workflow we are doing is the reuse of other CAD sheet metal models and bend line functionality will be considered some time in the future.
