Everytime, I click the "Get Latest" option in my assembly model, components lose their position and move randomly within the assembly. Is there a glitch causing this? I also have sub assemblies within this larger model that no matter how many times I join things together, when i save and re open the sub assembly component move out of position for no apparent reason. Below are 2 pics showing a before/after of what happens when I use "Get latest" Please help! My boss want to put me on Key Creator. Please don't make me switch. I like Fusion.

My first thought is that there is an issue with one of the joints (just a guess). If it were me, I would delete the joint that constrains the part that moved and re-apply it after the Get all latest command.

I have found that performing a Compute all ("cmd" + "b" on OSX) sometimes helps stuff like this, too.

Ok, so I tried a few things. I tried removing all the joints and re-assembling them. Still nothing. I've started rebuilding a model with all updated components. We'll see if this works. Some of my other sub assemblies started crashing Fusion. I think there might be a corrupt file somewhere. I'll figure it out 🙂

I attached the file of the subassembly that keeps crashing Fusion

A .f3d file will not work in this case as this assembly uses linked components and subassemblies. Find the assembly you are having the problem with in the data panel and click on the littel info button and then click on open details on web.

There will be a "share" button that provides an option for a link that will us in tirn alow to download the complete assem, bly with all linked components as a .f3z file.

Hi @gmdimarzio88,

I can take a peek at this in a little bit - I know you are also having issues with importing a file into your assembly. I will take a deeper peek at this too today. One though I had off the top of my head if you can test - make sure there are no pending moves in your components/sub-components. For instance, lets say in of the sub-components, you did a move command or an align to the component - an option to Capture Position will arise. If you hit save on the model, without accepting the Capture Position (there the Capture Position is in a pending state), in the original model it will appear as moved as the pending state is captured, but when you insert the model into your assembly that pending state is not applied and will revert the component back to before the move. Not 100% sure if this is the case, but a good starting point to check. I have seen this happen a few times now.

Thanks,

On a first glance, something about "10403.05 Fixed clamp cover..." might be problematic. I only noticed revolute joints holding it to the rest of the assembly. Attempting to drag the component yielded no result. When I tried to select the joints that referenced that component, Fusion crashed.

I am not certain if this has anything to do with the issue you are seeing, but it may be a starting place.

Rigid joints from the sub assembly don't seem to care over. I made a small edit to a component from a sub assembly. When I choose Get Latest in the subassembly everyting stays put. If I update the entire assembly model with the sub assemblies in it, things move and there's no fixing it. If you try to re join the moved component, the entire subassembly disappears.

Which components in question are the ones moving? I want to examine these further to get a better idea of what might be happening. The hard part is that I have to physically update each sub-component myself as I only have access to this one version of each component.

Well, after playing around this weekend I think I figured out a few things> Direct modeling and parametric have some differences that i wasnt aware of. It doesnt lookw like joints were captured after inserting the subassemblies. I have some new workflows that seem to be helping a lot. Also, the Get Latest warning was staying at the top of my program window while working on other tabs I had open on other subassemblies. This seemed to screw a few things up. All in all thanks for all the replies
