Joining Components?

Hi there, new Fusion user here with a question regarding importing a .skp file. Do components need to be in a sketch to join them? After creating a new drawing from an uploaded .skp file, the parts in the design were in separate groups. Below are the steps I took however I am not sure what I am missing, hoping some one can help. The image is after groups were deleted. I wonder if the model should be exploded in Sketchup prior to importing to Fusion. My objective is to prepare the drawing for CNC on plywood which I will continue those steps after joining, hopefully.

1) Upload .skp file

2) Created new drawing from .skp design

3) Created new components from Bodies

4) renamed parts

5) Deleted all groups

Hi Zach,

Welcome to Fusion 360 community and thank you for posting! Are you trying to merge them and make it a single body? Have you tried the Merge command in the Mesh workspace?

If this doesn't help, could you give me more details of what you are trying to achieve? Also, please attach the file here.

Hi Masa,

Thank you for the reply. I would like to place components on to the "STOCK:1" component similar to what is achieved in the tutorial link below. Two .f3d files are attached, one before creating new components and one after. I can also share the link to the file if needed.

You are working with Mesh bodies. You cannot use joints with mesh bodies. I know this isn't the answer you were looking for but with simple geometry like that, you would be better off just redoing it in fusion.

Thanks Jeeves, I've decided to model them in Fusion that way I know the components are defined.
