I'm having trouble filleting the top edge of the attached SVG. Basically I'm trying to scale it by .5, extrude to 8mm high, and create a 2mm fillet on the top edge. The edges that I don't expect to fillet nicely, do... and the ones that I do expect to work well, do not. I'm honestly not sure what I'm doing wrong here. I have tried selecting multiple lines at once, and have tried individual lines. Does anyone have any guidance before I lose more hair. 😃

Also, is there any information out there on what to watch out for when you know you'll be filleting an edge? Right now I'm just using trial and error and have no idea why I'm getting the errors that I'm getting.

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for posting! It looks like you are running into some difficulties while trying to fillet the edge of an imported SVG file in Fusion 360.

I believe the reason your fillet has not been working (for the exterior edge) is due to some areas of the imported SVG curve that are not self-tangent. Small variations in the curve can cause issues when creating fillets, so sketching a new spline can often help to work around these issues. You can see some of these problem areas in the screenshot below, which shows the curvature comb for the original SVG file:

The picture below shows the curvature comb for a redone spline. You can see that it still has some problem areas, but is much less busy and a smoother profile than the original SVG.

I have also attached the screencast below walking through my process for addressing this issue. Hopefully this helps - please let me know if you have any questions!

What you are experiencing isn't unique. Fusion gets squirly when there are numerous curves involved apparently. Sometimes i can get it to work, sometimes I can't. If I don't get it to work, I try to create a profile and extrude cut it to the fillet I want.

Thank you! I didn't realize I could view the curve comb that way. That will help make things a lot more clear in the future. I'll get on redrawing those!

I was so happy to see this solution to a problem that I have all the time... Only to then find that the solution was to redraw the svg geometry in Fusion. lol

In the years since, has anyone come up with a more efficient and less absolutely ridiculous solution to this problem?
