Hi @kris_berg,

Thanks for your feedback. This model is not mine. I have downloaded it from Grabcad. I'm pretty sure the threads have been created using the Thread tool (Modeled).

I have also tested with a single component and I wasn't impressed by the performance! If Fusion can't handle this simple and small model, how can it handle a larger assembly with 100's components!? I really hope the dev team will be able to crack this one! I can work with missing functionalities, but performance is the worst.

Cheers / Ben.

I hope one of you can help me figure this out. I'm not sure if something is wrong with me, the file or Fusion?

I tried it on my machine as well, and the first operation (placing the first base view) took 1:20 seconds, so quite a bit faster than what you got, but still way too slow to actually be usable.

What is a bit odd, is the size of the file archive. More than 50 MB seems way excessive for this model, but that doesn't really explain the slow performance.

@mroek, thanks for checking out the file.

Yes the file size is kinda large, but it shouldn't be the root cause of the problem! Something else is wrong and I'm not sure what it is.

@jeff_strater, any ideas? I need this to work for a YouTube video that I'm working on!

Ben.

Hi @Beyondforce,

I have looked at your design. The good news is on my computer, using the same build you are using, it takes 2:20 to create the view. We have implemented a performance improvement in a release currently scheduled to come out this next week. Using that version it takes 30 seconds to create the view. While that is not lightening fast, it is a good improvement. I believe the performance/size issues are related to modeling the threads verses using cosmetic threads. Using the Fusion 360 Thread command will allow you to create threads without modeling them.

I'm not worry about the precision. I'm going to use this model as a demo for something else. The performance has nothing to do with the correctness of the threads or any other cut for that matter.

Hi @Beyondforce,

I went in and removed the threads from your design (by deleting the faces) and then created a drawing view. It took 30 seconds (down from 2:20), however on the build we are planning on releasing this week, the time to create a drawing view was 3 seconds. I am wondering if during translation (import/export) the geometric information became more complex and that is causing the slowness. The geometry impacts the time it takes to do the hidden line and other calculations when creating a view. We do take performance seriously and are always trying to improve. Based on my results you should be seeing between a 5 and 10x improvement in our upcoming build.

Thank you,

I have removed the threads and the performance improved a lot.
Maybe this is something worth testing, if you export and import a model with threads, then something happens to the geometry in the process.
I have seen other people with Drawing performance issue, maybe they all have something in common!?
