Mystery Continues around sketching around a canvas

I went back and forth yesterday with some generous volunteers to try to figure out why I was unable to sketch around a canvas as I have successfully done hundreds of times before. More than once I told the participants that things had returned to normal. But I was always wrong. So I resubmit the problem today for your examination. As the design stands, I have made several sketch lines around a Robo Plier. Up to this point, everything is working normally. But, if I draw one more sketch line connecting to one of the existing lines, the existing line will either turn from blue to purple, or from blue to black. After that happens, the design can no longer proceed. I hope all that was understandable to you. As usual, any help will be greatly appreciated.

You have 2 sketches in the timeline (the second one is empty).

I suspect you are in the second sketch and reference lines in the first sketch (auto projection of geometry) and this creates the purple lines.

Purple indicates projected geometry.

If you want to add more geometry to the first sketch edit the sketch.
Right click on sketch in timeline or browser and select Edit Sketch.

I kinda felt like I might be doing something like that but wasn't sure what to do about it. I'll try working with that. Thanks

I hope I'm not speaking to soon, but it seems you were exactly correct. As long as I've been using Fusion, I thought I was beyond that kind of mistake. Thank you very much!

Hi,

like @KristianLaholm, I strongly recommend that you deactivate these options.

This way you can decide which elements you want to project into the active sketch and the sketch remains clearer.

Please change the placement of the "Accepted solution" marker.
This should be assigned to @KristianLaholm contribution because he provided the hint for the solution.
