Hi there! I've found this forum very useful for discovering new tricks for Fusion. THANK YOU(!) to all of the active folks who submit responses daily.

Here's a fairly straightforward question about the 'pipe' function: How would you 'pipe' multiple sketch lines at once?

I'm trying to engrave a street map into a surface with a ball end mill (the semi-circle profile is important). I have 40+ discreet lines that criss-cross and have loose ends, and the pipe function only lets you do one continuous line at a time... frustrating.

Attached is a picture of the actual model, but for simplicity's sake I created an example model to ask this question.

Piping the 'Y' shape is a perfect case: I'd like to use pipe to carve out all the 'Y' in one go, but instead it takes two steps, one for the base and first prong, and one for the second. same thing goes for lines that intersect, but don't connect ends.

I'd welcome any approaches you guys might have for solving this, using the pipe function or anything else (sweep cut?) (patch?)

Thanks!

Hello jeusterbrock,

Thank you for uploading part file and explaining problem in detail.

Please try below steps to make it happen using Sculpt tools,

Please find video at https://autodesk.box.com/s/finf8fwvttp1sr9ktdu13s9eltiulw9j

- Open part file

- remove all those pipe features from time OR rollback before pipe operations

- Solid Workspace : Create -> Create Form (you will enter Sculpt (T-Spline) mode)

- Sculpt Workspace : Create -> Pipe
- Select all curve and make a pipe by setting smooth, diameter as expected, End Types (to close ends) : OK
- Finish Form (last icon of toolbar)
- You will be back in Solid workspace. There will be 3 solid bodies.
- Solid Workspace : Modify -> Combine

- Select base plate as Target body and Other 2 pipe bodies as Tools. It should be Cut option auto-picked in dialog. press OK!

You should be able to see groove on Plate

Hope that will help you !

You don't really need a link. IF you follow the detailed written instructions in @rhudaynath's post it will do exactly what you want 😉

@rhudaynath maybe use Autodesk Screencast the next time 😉

This worked for me, but I would like to the pipes to intersect each other just as pipes would be fit in a welding/fab shop. This feature makes a smooth transition from what would be each individual pipe. Is there a setting that I'm missing to change the behavior of the tool?<span class="lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline" image-alt="This is what I was able to accomplish the slow way: using the pipe tool and doing them one at a time.
