sections and detail views on different sheets?

I tried dragging a detail view to another sheet and it didn't work so I am wondering if there is a way to place details and sectional views on different sheets?

As far as I know the sheet has to contain a parent view in order for either the section or detailed views to work.

Both this and your other thread of being able to flip dimensions should be added to the ideastation.

A workaround for this would be to put the Base view off the sheet and just have the detail view on the sheet. It could be a pain keeping the views synchronized between sheets but it will get you what you want.

What happens when you export that as a pdf or a dwg?

To a PDF you get just the sheet to a DWG you would get everything. If you have AutoCAD you could just drag the views off the sheet in Fusion then finish the layout in AutoCAD.

Of course if we had DXF\DWG export to a version you could edit with any old CAD program you could just make one drawing in Fusion with the section and detail views somewhere off the sheet then add boarders in another program.

Here's an example DWG opened with DWG True View.

Hello @HughesTooling,

I am attempting your work around but it seems Fusion is bringing in the full assembly for the second sheet even when I originally made the drawing for the "part" only. As you can see in the screen capture something isn't working correctly or I am doing something wrong. The soft jaws are coming with the part.. 😕

Any tips??

Hello @HughesTooling,

I was able to use you work around. At first i was trying to and couldn't change the detail name but was able to change the text on the sheet, see red circle, to correspond with the detail from the first sheet.

Thanks for the work around until or if Fusion gets enhanced with being able to drag the view to another sheet.

You can move the view to a second sheet. first you need to generate the view on the original sheet, once the view is generated you can grab the view form the directory tree on the left side of the page and drag the view form the first page to the second page.

I can't find a solution to this and its been an issue since 2017. it's 2021 and still no fix to this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
