Help designing a Smaller Pedestal for a 1/6 Statue

Hi.

Recently purchased a Resident Evil 3 Jill Valentine 1/6 scale statue. I'd like to ask fusion enthusiasts opinions on copying the pedestal design but making the diameter smaller so I can display two of these in a Detolf cabinet side by side.

What is required for the New pedestal design:

- The four foot pegs need to be the same dimensions and spacing (I'll measure them, See
attached pic). They were measured center to center.

- Smaller diameter approx. 120mm.

- Statue roughly centered on pedestal.

Not required but would like to include:

- The pattern with similar texture if possible. If not, it can be excluded.

- If possible, smooth texture when 3d printed.

The front pegs are roughly on the center line of the circle.

I don't own a 3d printer, I use treatstock.com. So I'd prefer the pedestal height to be 5mm for throw away print

Can edit the location of the holes, by unhooking the mid point constraint from the origin.

Holes are equal to each other,

Centre lines of the feet are equal to each other.

Toe holes are horizontal, but easy to change.

Double checking the photos, I would find the angle between both feet centre lines and delete the horizontal off the toes.

Where is the origin and do you just remove constraints by unselecting them?

Yes, select constraint then Delete key, Origin is centre of circle.

can’t send the file, atm (it’s an Autodesk problem) and you should test out what you need, as a learning curve.

What kind of circled is used?

If/or how was a center line placed in the 120mm circle, so the front right hole and rear left hole is placed? Or is that just showing the diameter?

How are all the holes placed in relation to each other?

I don't understand how to holes are equal to each other?

Equal circles. Draw 4 circles on the corners of the construction lines.

Dimension one at 5.9mm

use the Equals constraint. Select the dimensioned circle, and another one, both are now the same size, continue, selecting a pair of circles, both will be the same, finish with the last circle and they will all be 5.9mm without doing four dimensions.

Boundary circle - is a centre point circle, set 120mm diameter. Turns black because centre is snapped to sketch Origin. Correct, I lined up the diameter dimension, there is a corner to corner construction line and I made the midpoint snap to the origin, but you don’t need that according to the good look at the pictures.

For the feet holes, I drew a 2 point rectangle, then deleted the Botton horizontal, and both vertical constraints. I dimensioned one short line 22.5mm (mistake should be 22.2). Using Equals constraint, made the other short line equal to the dimensioned line.

Dimension top line 64.15, and bottom line 48.98.

You need to dimension the angle between both short lines.

Click drag the trapezoid around until it looks in the right place.

Looks like the front holes can be on disc centre line, not sure.

I've been thinking of abandoning the 120mm circle. Instead use a rectangle H: 65mm L : 70mm then extruded to 5mm for a test peice. Has radius corners.

Then roughly align the foot pegs on the rectangle to center/midpoint to make placement much easier?

Until you find the angle of the two feet, (measured as a triangle)

would not matter what shape the plate is.

Hi.

I managed to upload the Peg file I made. Look at the history of the process I went though, probably incorrect.

How to make the trapezoid turn black and and the 4 circles to the four corners?

Might have to buy a bigger protector or angle finder and find the angles. I'd have to pull the figures off to do that.

Make the Midpoint of top line vertical from Origin.

Dimension the vertical gap.

If you can't find the angles, just measure across the trapezoid, and edit the angled dimension to suit.

(There is no history to check.)

Change to Construction,

snap four circles to the corners.

Dimension one circle.

Use Equals constraint, click on the dimensioned circle, and another, the 2nd one will adjust, repeat for circles 3 and 4.

I'd thought I'd measure everything again with the digital calipers. Some were off.

Checked the 4 pegs again and they're not symmetrical in shape. They taper in slightly into the top then they have a slight chamfer on the top edge. I've taken some pictures.

I've written down the measurements in mm:

Left Front Top: 5.76

Left Front Bottom: 6.03

Left Rear Top: 5.87

Left Rear Bottom: 6.03

Right Front Top: 5.89

Right Front Bottom: 5.98

Right Rear top: 5.89

Right Rear Bottom: 5.98

I'm not sure how to create them and attach them to the trapezoid then extrude them and fully create a 3d printable file? I've attached the file were I'm at.

Revolve the pegs,

you have the detail.

Vertical plane off the top line. Project the trapezoid corner points, or layout line.

Draw a centre line, and half section, fully defined.

Same for the rear pegs, vertical plane off the lower trapezoid line, project corner points and revolve those sketches.

2 new sketches, 4 revolve, > Join.

Revolve the pegs: Do I create a circle on the 4 corners of the trapezoid first then extrude them using a Revolve function? Or I'm thinking just in sketch mode?

you have the detail.

Vertical plane off the top line. Which top line?

Project the trapezoid corner points, or layout line. Use a Project function and just multiple select?

Draw a centre line, and half section, fully defined. ???

Same for the rear pegs, vertical plane off the lower trapezoid line, project corner points and revolve those sketches.

2 new sketches, 4 revolve, > Join

For the pegs, you don’t need the four circles.

you have pics of the pegs standing up off the base,

Your note drawing, is what you need a rectangle, centre line and half a peg. Outside line of the rectangle joined to the top and bottom dimensioned lines, will give you the taper peg, with the revolve tool.

Plane at Angle, select the top trapezoid line. Set at 90 or vertical.

Plane at Angle, select the bottom trapezoid line. Set at 90 or vertical.

I struggled for hours. I created one peg. Still confused. Have I placed the peg on the corner of the trapezoid?

I tried Extruding the base by 5mm up. The base disappears. So tried -5mm and the base remains appeared.

Can you check that I made the peg correctly please? Attached file.

I followed your instructions. I used the line tool. Made one line at a time and used half dimensions.

Correct so far,

You did not Project the trapezoid line into the new sketch, so the new sketch is all blue.

On the basis that each peg would be the same, I would put small fillet on top of the first one.

I Copy / Pasted each peg to the corner points.

Next step is to Extrude the plate down and join them all to the same body.

Like this?

Sketch 2 should not have blue lines or white points. Corner points should have snapped to each other.

What is the process of performing this function in relation to the trapezoid? I tried using the project tool but couldn't select anything. Please guide me, step by step.

Based on this new information.

when you make Sketch 2,

Plane on Angle, select top line of the trapezoid, set 90 degrees - start sketch 2 on this plane.

Q1- Create > Project > Project - (set dialogue box to articles and not bodies)

select the same trapezoid line > highlights as red line > Ok.

Hide sketch 1 (important)

You should have a purple line, in sketch 2.

Draw the half peg rectangle with correct dimensions.

Q3 - As you are doing so, connect with Snap turned on, hover over the purple line end point, the cursor will give a blue box, do the centre line, dimension 7 mm high, and it will be black.

Draw the top and bottom horizontal lines, dimensioning them as you go, They will turn Black.

Connect line four to the horizontal lines, it will turn black, and Fusion will hide the points at the corner.

Q2 - Same sketch, draw same parts (some different dimensions) for the peg at the other end of the purple line.

Finish this sketch.

Revolve each Peg. Fillet each peg top edge if required.

unhide sketch 1, hide Sketch 2

Copy / Paste the left front peg to the back left trapezoid corner point

Repeat for last right peg, to back right point.

Extrude, sketch 1, down -5mm, Fusion will be set to Join, automatically > Ok.

Body folder will just have one body in the folder.

Q4 - If you don’t move them, they will stay there.

Thanks for persevering with me. The detailed steps were much better.

I haven't finished yet as I have to make another one for Leon. He has a much wider stance. Can this file be modified? Mainly the size of the base and the pegs are spaced further apart I'll have to get the box down and measure it later.

I did buy a digital protractor.

save as - the file with a new name, (Leon)

Edit sketch 1, change the dimensions that need to change.

If you did it right, the pegs will be same and done already.

If the pegs are different, edit sketch 2, change the dimensions in this sketch to suit.

Fusion will update it all. Save the updated work.
