Just noticed it only fails if the component is active in a non active component you can change the opacity of individual bodies but make it active and they all become opaque.

Title pretty much covers it, changing opacity of a body has no effect.

It seems it does not work for bodies if they are part of a component. If bodies are on the top level, this option works well.

Hi @HughesTooling, @Anonymous

Thanks for posting!

I believe that this behavior is due to the "Active Component Visibility" preference. I have shown this in the screencast below - when "Active Component Visibility" is enabled, all bodies in the active component will be displayed at 100% opacity. I have shown this in the screencast below - please let me know if you have any questions!

Hi @paul.clauss

I guess what I would like\need is for Active component visibility to not override body settings for opacity. At the time I noticed this problem I had a component with 2 bodies and I wanted one transparent to make it easier to see the body I was working on. I don't want to disable Active Component visibility because I want the rest of the design transparent as well.

So in this example I wanted to work on the highlighted body with the other body transparent.

But when I make the component active both become opaque and the rest of the assembly is transparent. The reason I have 2 bodies at this point is because I needed to scale body2 independent to body1 then combine so I don't want to use 2 components.

Opacity at the component level does override Active component visibility I'd just like the body setting to override it as well.

Thanks Mark

In my case, when I activate a component, the other components do not become transparent, but only their edges loose the outline. This seems to be completely independent of the "Active Component Visibility" on or off. It also only happens in one of my models, the other ones nicely make all inactive components translucent. I wonder if there is some setting that is berried in a user unfriendly navigation that has caused that problem and now I don't know how to undo it and it is quite frustrating. Can anyone help?
