topic Bounding box massivly oversize in one axis in Fusion Design, Validate & Document Forum

I imported a Taperlock bush from Traceparts as a STEP file and when I inserted it into a design my model disappeared from view.

Checking the bush on its own, I was able to see a dot on the screen and could zoom in to the part. The issue seems to be an incorrect bounding box, the width being 2.000E+04 mm and Fusion is zooming to fit.

Is there a way of correcting this, or do I have to go hunting for another imported file?

When it's imported it will create a base feature in the timeline, right click the feature in the timeline and select edit. Zoom to the point and delete then click Finish Base Feature from the top toolbar.

Edit I think I misunderstood, when you said point I thought you meant a point in the design. I see now you mean the model was very small. Can you attach the STP file here, I think it either has some geometry misplaced or it drawn a long way from the origin.

Can you attach the original *.stp file here ( I suspect there is a geometry issue that will need to be repaired).

Thanks for the quick reply. The imported model is on the origin, but has that massive oversize of the bounding box in one axis.

I'll include the file.

I got around the problem this time by downloading a different size bush and modifying the ID to the size I wanted.

I found a number of topology issues with the geometry in this area.

Is this geometry of any importance, or is it simply the manufacturers mark?

Don't know why Fusion's having trouble with this. I open in Rhino then saved as a stp and it opens fine now with the Rhino export. File attached.

SolidWorks reported one minor error in a completely different location.

It handled the logo imprint fine.

Thanks for the comments.

The next size up bush loaded without problems and I simply modified it.

Odd problem though.
