I think there is clearly one bug at play here and if I play with the spline I believe I see a second one.

You should be able to select the side face and sketch on it.

I created a component with lofting no problem. It had a single spline with three profiles. I moved the component over so you can see the sketches. THen when I tried to sketch on the surface of the completed loft it wouldn't let me pick the surface. I have put picture below. When I sweep the sketch with a single profile it lets me sketch on faces. Never had this issue with extrudes either. Is this a loft issue or something I did wrong ? When I tried to align the lofted item with the origin it rotated the loft.

If you really were able to move the component away from the sketch that created it then the structure of your design might need an improvement.

You should probably review Fusion 360's R.U.L.E #1.

To answer your other question, please share your design. (export ad .f3d and attach to next post.).

I suspect the loft creates a somewhat curved face and as such you cannot pick it for sketching on it.

I have attached file. I created it again and didn't move the component. Can't draw on face or offset plane from it.

thanks for confirming it. this is the final object I was fooling around making. Its a pool lounge chair. Lofting the leg pieces seemed like the best way to make them.

I managed to work around the bug.

When bugs are identified do they sometimes get fixed in upcoming releases ? Not sure the protocol or if its only big bugs that effect lots of people.

Here is a pic of final. Thank you for your help !!!!!!

Nice! Put small chamfers or better fillets on all edges and you'll see that will make a clear difference in the renders as it will look more natural.

Yes, bugs get picked up by the Fusion 360 team here on the forum regularly and depending on difficulty fixed quite quickly.

Hi @TrippyLighting @Anonymous

Thanks for posting! I had a look into this issue and was able to recreate the issue with being unable to sketch on the flat lofted face. I have logged a bug for this issue as FUS-31658 and will circle back here with more information when we have addressed the problem.

With regards to the second issue brought up, I agree that it would be nice to have the option to constrain the centerpoints of the sketched profiles to the origin of their parent sketch, which should be linked to a point on the spline. I have logged another issue for this behavior as FUS-31659. I have shown how I interpreted the behavior in the screencast below.

Please let me know if you have any questions!
