parametric pattern

we are trying to make a parametric fingerjoint. the goal is to alter the number of fingers when the board gets wider and the fingers on the sides are the same size.

we managed to do this but it was a pain. is there is simpler solution?

how do i post my project here?

i managed to do this with a dovetail box

take a look at the way I parametrized the dovetail sketch. The main thing I did was make the overall height significantly taller than what I might typically use the model for and selected all the profiles for the dovetail cuts. As long as I stayed below the "max" height, the model behaved and I don't have to go in and clean up the selections on the extrude cuts.

Hi Jamie,

as it seems I have an similar issue.

How can I get the "http://a360.co/2oemAJg" in my fusion 360?

My workflow problem is:

+ I´d like to create a number of joint-fingers with a user parameter.

+ The idea is to create a solid to cut out the geometry from a block.

+ But a pattern in sketch is no parametric step in the history -> doesn´t work

+ In the create dropdown the pattern function works, but then after changing the parameter for the number of fingers the number of bodies change and here breaks my workflow, because I have to chose the bodies for the combine-function manually -> parametric workflow broken

How is the appropriate concept in Fusion 360 to perform the task?

Here's a screen cast I did a while back for a different shape. the same concept used here will work for doing finger joints parametrically.

thank you a lot. You made me understand, that I still can access the pattern-parameters after creating the pattern.

Getting back to the pattern-dialog-box is not possible as it seems?

There are 2 places where you find the pattern function.

1-sketches. this is a one time shot. You can't get back to the dialog box. It's also generally not advisable to use sketch patterns when ever you can avoid it.(and you usually can).

2-model. This is a 3d command, and you can open it anytime from the time line to edit it. (this is the one you want to use instead of patterning sketches.)
