Ordinate Dimensioning Does not Quite Work

I am attempting to create a print of some cutouts on a shipping container. It seems to me that the most simple way to do this is to use ordinate dimensions. I have two issues.

First, the dimensioning tool (especially the ordinate dimensioning part of it) is slow and difficult to use.

Second, I am unable to select the intersection of these two edges. As you can see, the corner of the container is chamfered. I need to be able to select one edge for the vertical "0" and one edge for the horizontal "0". Fusion does not project edges in the drawing environment, so this is not possible.

Fusion also seems to want to set both the x and y origin at the same place. If this were not the case I would be able to use the ordinate dimension tool by selecting the leftmost edge for applying horizontal dimensions.

I can continue by using the baseline dimension tool, but in my opinion, that is not the best tool for this situation.

Would someone please let me know if a) there is a workaround, or b) if a fix is planned soon.

You can pick an apparent intersection where the corner point would intersect if there was no chamfer.

You can move the datum in the same way but I found I needed to zoom in or it would snap to the old datum.

Thanks for the reply.

I assumed that was the way it was supposed to work, but I cannot get it to work that way. Fusion seems quite unresponsive. I think it is partly due to the fact that this is a fairly large model.

I did find some strange behaviour like that at one point, saved the file, closed then reopened and it all worked again.

I tried restarting and re-opening the file (several times), but the same thing happens each time.

I downloaded your file and I don't have any trouble adding ordinate dimensions. Looks like you're using a mac, perhaps someone with a mac can try.

Sorry to have kept you waiting. I reproduce it as well on my Mac.

It seems that simple model looks fine but the large drawing would have some problems. I reported it (FDWG-7617) to development team if I receive any response from them, I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Thanks so much for the help.

It appears that Fusion is super-laggy with this drawing. Since it is part of a larger assembly, I am wondering if that is part of the issue.

Does Fusion load the entire model, even if one selects only one component from the browser? This seems undesirable to me.

Anyway, I am able to get ordinate dimensioning (very slowly) working. I am at home right now, and without my external monitor. In any event, I can get the tool to respond the way it should if I wait ~10 seconds for each dimension. It is time-consuming and frustrating, but at least it works!
