@Anonymous

I share your frustration with line weights...I know the team in charge of drawings is aware that people want this feature and I to wish they would hurry up with it's implementation.

Currently it's status is Future Consideration....

For any kind of fine details the .pdf drawings look like blobs on the print...I still don't understand why this was not part of the initial implementation...

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/ideastation-request-a-feature-or/changing-line-weight-and-font-size/idi-p/5883126

Post from @TimeraAutodesk in the IdeaStation:

"- The ability to assign layers that define line weights and styles is definitely on our roadmap, and I anticipate we will get to delivering that functionality in the spring of 2016. "

I guess they missed that deadline.

Hello,

Thanks for bearing with us on this request, changing line weight and other object properties is a major project and we are currently looking in to it.

Is it possible for you to share with us an example dwg file that will help us understand where exactly are you facing problem? Generally all the default line wt values are as per the ISO and ASME standards which seems to be working fine with most of the customers. Our default values are different wrt different edges like - Annotations 0.25, BOM 0.25, Border 0.25, Center Lines 0.25, Dimensions 0.25, Hatching 0.25, Titleblock 0.35, Visible 0.5, Visible Narrow 0.35. An example drawing would be nice to look which ones are really causing the problem.

Regards,

@Anonymous posted a good example here too.

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/design-validate-document/the-2d-drawing-lines-issue-after-output-pdf/m-p/7002188/highlight/false#M106778

Both examples shown here are what I deal with almost everyday...then my customers want me change it so they can actually see what is going on with the part being manufactured and it is a real pain to do as @Anonymous has illustrated. If you have to do the line conversion in a separate app for 20-30 prints a day it's a huge waste of time. Then to make matters worse if you need to make changes to a print you have to repeat the time wasting conversion. My boss is not a big fan of wasting time.

See attached image

This is an example of the ridiculous line weight settings of Fusion 360. This, and all other drawings are useless because they do not convey an acceptable level of detail. In every drawing I create there are areas of pure black where all readable lines are lost. I have read a message from 2015 from another Fusion 360 customer regarding the same problem. Please explain how seriously the Autodesk team is "looking into" this issue on their "roadmap".

Is this still that case? I am searching now for a solution. I was looking for in-sketch line weight, cause I can hardly see the lines, I've got 20/20 vision! I'm coming from SW and they have a much heavy default lines. Makes is much easier to spot things. Now, without customizable line weights (like SW cough cough) the default settings just don't work for me. I am primarily on a 1600x900 display (I know, I know) but even on my 1920x1080 laptop it isn't any better.

I like "simple" selection display style over "normal". Normal has the line changing color completely and that is distracting. Also, smaller constraints would be nice. I turn them off by default too. Maybe I should start a new topic with all my gripes...

I do really love this platform, and I am using it alot to get used to it because I really do see it's potential. I don't plan on investing in any other platform even as is. I still need to dive into CAM too, I am coming from MasterCAM (X4 yikes) there so we'll see how that goes too.

Is this what you are looking for. These settings can be found under Document Setting in a 2D Drawing and can also be place in your drawing template is desired. They also can be controlled from your Fusion Preferences.
